247 Not the First Person (2/2)
Yang Yun stared at Li Ran with a hint of surprise on his expression. ”There are others?”
Li Ran nodded. ”But you are the first person who came voluntarily.” He paused as he took another bite from his bread. ”The internet is a wonderful thing. That year, when I was reading some information on the existence of other dimensions, I came across a forum where a group of people claiming that they came from another time and space.”
Yang Yun leaned forward as he began to listen to Li Ran's tale.
”Not going to lie, I met a few lunatics on the forum as well,” Li Ran chuckled. ”There was this man who claimed that he came from the future to warn us that the aliens are going to invade us soon.”
”Aliens?”
”Creatures from outer space,” Li Ran said. ”I met a few people from the group out of curiosity and got to hear stories about different worlds. Some of them entered this world when they accidentally stumbled across a portal. Like a tunnel or under a tree that shaped like an arch. There are a few of them who came here after they picked up something that they should not pick.”
”What do you mean? What something?”
”Like a strange rock, jewelry, or even flowers,” Li Ran said. He tilted his head down and smiled bitterly. ”They said, be careful when you entered the woods and warned not to pick up things carelessly, or else, you might be sucked into another world. Even if you wanted to pick up those things, you have to ask permission from the spirit of the jungle.”
Suddenly, their surroundings turned to silence. The night-calling insects were quiet as well. Yang Yun felt a cold wind blew past him and immediately rubbed his hands together.
Xiao Mi stopped from whatever he was doing. He stood up and looked at the sky.
”What's wrong?” Yang Yun asked when he detected Xiao Mi's strange behavior. He followed Xiao Mi's line of sight and saw the clouds moving to shield the full moon. Their surroundings turned darker.
The black cat let out a meow. He looked at Yang Yun, blinked once, and sprinted away.
”Xiao Mi! Where are you going?” Yang Yun reached for the torchlight and followed after the black cat.
They walked further into the woods, and Yang Yun did not forget to leave some mark on their path lest they got lost in the jungle. After almost half an hour, Xiao Mi finally stopped in an open area.
Yang Yun's eyes went wide as he saw what in front of him. He immediately crouched down and touched that familiar herb.
Shadow Grass. And there were a lot of them.
Li Ran arrived just in time to see Yang Yun's gaze on that grass. His eyes flashed with a strange look once he saw the grass. His gaze shifted to Yang Yun, and he looked at him hesitantly. ”Is this the same grass that bought your wife to this world?”
