120 A Dream (2/2)

”What is it about?”

Yang Yun hesitated for a moment. Then he shook his head. ”I don't remember much,” he lied. Yang Yun knew that his mother would worry if he told her that every day, he would dream of Mingyue.

Liu Qing Xin sighed. ”Young General Jiang is here to visit you.”

Hearing the general's name, Yang Yun, sat up straight. He hissed when the wound on his waist started to hurt again.

”Careful!” Liu Qing Xin moved to help her son. ”You stay here. I will ask the general to come here.”

”He's my superior.”

”You're injured! You're a patient,” his mother pointed out. ”Young General Jiang would not mind this. He's here to visit you after all.”

Yang Yun nodded weakly. ”Help me to dress up.”

After a while, a servant led Jiang Xiao Xian into Yang Yun's room. Subconsciously, Yang Yun sat up straight. ”General!” he greeted.

Jiang Xiao Xian lifted his hand. ”You don't have to be so formal. Relax. I heard you're injured. I'm only here to visit you,” the general said. He turned to Yang Yun's mother and greeted the elder politely.

”I'll leave both of you to talk. I'll ask the servant to bring in some refreshment later,” Liu Qing Xin said before she exited the room.

”General Jiang. Forgive me. I didn't know you're back from the Northern Border.” Yang Yun said after his mother had retreated.

”I have been back for a couple of weeks,” Jiang Xiao Xian said. He glanced at a stool, pulled it towards Yang Yun's side, and sat down. ”You've been staying home, recuperating. I guess you did not know what happened in the capital.”

”What happened?”

”I'll tell you next time,” Jiang Xiao Xian said. He gave Yang Yun a look over, and his gaze stopped at his stomach area. ”I heard from my grandfather that your injury is quite bad. How are you feeling now?”

”Still recovering,” Yang Yun said. His body went stiff as the young general mentioned his injury. He knew right away what was the General's purpose of coming to visit him.

Jiang Xiao Xian tilted his head sideways and stared at his subordinate. For a minute, it seemed as the two of them were engaged in a staring contest. ”So tell me,” Xiao Xian spoke. ”What happened back in the mountain?”
