1397 The Elemental Hands Brutality Part 2 (2/2)
The mages realized that the lightning attacks only temporarily paralyzed their targets. Becoming paralyzed in battle would have been lethal; the thin bolts didn't seem very accurate.
It was easy to evade the lightning bolts by concentrating on where they flashed.
The mages retaliated right away. High-level magic spells were cast everywhere, turning into six different waves of attacks. All spells of the six major elements took turns being cast. Rafel disappeared and charged to where the six sorcerers were.
Her crimson spear struck the oldest mage. His equipment shimmered with magic light as he stared in disbelief at the spear protruding from his chest.
Saleen chuckled. Rafel was at the pinnacle of level-12 when she undid the seal on her powers. The Inferno Spear was a weapon the Metal God had crafted for a beloved goddess. As long as the divine powers were maintained, the spear's sharpness would put Nailisi's Gray Memory to shame.
As Rafel yanked the spear out, a metal shield appeared on her arm, blocking a beam of gray light aimed right at her.
Wham! The shield the disintegrated into hundreds of pieces. Saleen was startled. It was Disintegration.
The success rate of that spell was lower than the Death Ray. If it met its target, it caused irreparable damage. Rafel was frightened to death at the thought of this. The mage trainer was only a level-10 but could successfully cast an instant-death spell on her.
Had she not been an angel with superior equipment, her body would have disintegrated in the blink of an eye..
Bestowed by her god, that shield had gone to waste. Rafel pivoted and launched another spear at that mage. Suddenly it became infused with green patterns, and the six eyes opened at the tip and locked onto the mage who used Disintegration.
How foolish that mage felt to be locked down by a weapon that had flown out of its owner's hand! How could this have happened?
This was no time for questions. The six eyes on the spear consumed a large amount of divine power to lock onto the mage trainer. It slashed the huge metal shield the mage trainer had conjured and penetrated its lower abdomen.
Then the six eyes blinked as divine powers seeped. Green branches took root in the mage trainer's body, sucking its life force dry.
Finally, a shriveled corpse collapsed to the earth. Then the other four mage trainers cast their most powerful spells at Rafel.
No way she would have taken them head-on. Level-10 mages could cast level-11 spells, and getting hit by level-11 spells was dangerous. Her equipment had been crafted by Saleen, but Rafel did not feel secure enough.
The reason was, Saleen only been at level-10 when he made that equipment.
Rafel was faster than the mage. Spreading her wings, she flew to greater altitudes before turning around. Four level-10 magic spells missed their targets: Saleen immediately sensed that something was off.
None of the mage trainers had abilities to cast level-11 magic.
The Elemental Hand was not so fearsome and its newly appointed mages were not yet experienced in combat.
Unsurprisingly, Saleen wondered if he'd been too cautious. He had been trying to lure snakes out of their lair but ended up with earthworms instead.
”Saleen!” Safilos shot up from below. His eyes were bloodshot as he roared, ”Kill those assh*les for me! They've destroyed all my cities!”
”As you wish. Saleen saw Safilos swing that demonic blade of his to help Rafel out. Saleen himself followed the metal angels to kill the mages hidden by Lightning Constellation.
Safilos took on two level-10 mage trainers. Rafel's task became easier as Saleen pursued the flying targets.
A sheet of ice with a diameter of over 100 meters appeared in the sky, conjured by tightly packed Icicles.
Saleen took only a second to finish the combo consisting of tens of Icicles. The spells rained all over the place within a 100-meter diameter, killing over half the remaining mages below level-8.
The metal angels charged at the mages Saleen was attacking. Their metal swords glistened with magic light. The power of the six major elements coiled around their swords, nullifying the magic shields that the mages brought up altogether.
After the metal angels came to embrace the faith of the God of Magic Net, their metal swords became imbued with anti-magic powers.
A huge flying device hovered high in the sky. It had a diameter of over 300 meters. Nine mages were standing on it, surrounded by 500 super puppets.
”Saleen has appeared. What now?” The youngest of the nine asked. They were true level-10 mages and had powerful equipment unlike those fakes down there.
”The intel was correct. That woman's an angel.”
”No need to clash head-on. Record the whole thing and make the announcement when we get back saying this mage has betrayed humans and is allied with the gods.” The older mage had nefarious thoughts, coming up with ways to deal with Saleen in seconds.
”Are you people talking about me?” Twelve Saleen look-alikes appeared in the huge metal flying device; 11 were illusions. The one fighting down there was an illusion, too.
The mages were shocked. They all knew of Saleen's notoriety since Alchemy City was no longer deemed to be of any value to him. If it hadn't been for Saleen, something as treacherous as the skeletal dragon would not have been summoned in the first place.
