1371 Oath of Godhood Part 2 (2/2)

”You can't leave the magic tower though, right?” Saleen asked.

”Of course not, or I won't be able to stay safe. Unlike you, Saleen, I've rafted only a few pieces of equipment and am lacking in defense. If the enemy really is a level 13-being, I'll have to rely on the magic tower for protection.”

If other mages had spoken Jason's words, they would have appeared arrogant. This was about a level-12 mage wanting to kill a level-13 pseudo god and hoping to remain unscathed. But Jason was merely telling the truth.

His training had deviated from the usual path of magic training. After all, his main skills consisted of refined secret arts from another crystal system.

Those skills were Water Flame Alchemy and Blazing Flame Soul-refining. He also had two of the most powerful magic amplifiers at his disposal; they had the capability of enhancing his powers exponentially.

Even his common skills would have become true, solid level-12 magic spells without a trace of impurities. Anyone possessing those powers could kill a pseudo god.

All of that combined with the design of Raphael's magic tower, which was intended to take on gods, meant that Jason wasn't bluffing.

Saleen knew this very well. If Fycro wasn't equipped with godly items and was a mere level-13 pseudo god, Saleen's Crystal Finger alone would have been enough to kill Fycro. The Crystal Finger was a skill designed specifically by Raphael to take on gods.

Even if the skill didn't end up killing a god, it would have still inflicted severe damage.

There was no concealing the fundamental nature of gods before the Crystal Finger, making it necessary for them to take on the raging attack of the Crystal Finger head-on.

”Mages, activate the magic net and shut the magic tower off!”

Jason's voice was heard. Magic beasts in the jungle intended to take flight and look for Fycro suddenly stopped moving, diving back into the jungle.

Fycro concealed his form and discovered the magic beasts' movements. He had some doubts: So they found me already? He was still about 1000 kilometers away from his destination. How did the mages see me from so far away?

Fycro knew magic towers extremely well and had in-depth knowledge of the range of control that magic towers of different levels sported. He had already been extremely careful by casting his invisibility skill. Even so, he could tell from the magic beasts' movement that the enemy might have discovered him.

With his clone below, there was no problem getting through the jungle. Whatever, I'll just barge in and kill that pesky Saleen.

Fycro lacked Jason's pride. He thought Saleen posed a potent threat to his becoming a true god in the future and that he needed to get rid of him.

Saleen had already messed up his plans of purifying the abominations, robbing his army of the materials he should have acquired to craft equipment. He would have been in possession of the most powerful divine-crafted weapon on all of Myers Mainland.

If his entire army were equipped with those weapons, they would have had their way with all of Myers Mainland. Saleen had thoroughly messed up his plans, forcing him to come to the interdimensional space and get rid of his foundations once and for all.

Raphael's magic tower was shut tight. After the tower was raised to level-12, the first floor came to possess six doors, all with powerful seals. It was just that Jason had undone them before.

With the doors shut and their seals in place again, if anyone barged in, the risk posed would be higher than when Saleen made it into the tower all those years ago. Back then, the seals were only meant to keep trespassers out. The ones on the doors now were meant to kill trespassers.

The magic tower had something like a master, and that someone was Jason.

He shut the magic tower off and ordered the mages to activate the magic net, which was the only offensive structure around the magic tower. Armies would have had to be deployed if the magic net was absent in order to fight Fycro, and Jason didn't think for a second that those armies posed any threat to Fycro.

Many instant-death spells were prepped in the magic net, waiting to be unleashed on Fycro. The newly ascended god would definitely not have gone against it head-on and would have been less inclined to try to destroy the magic net. He wanted to get to the tower and have a showdown as soon as possible.

Not even gods would have wanted to stand around taking the brunt of something like instant-death spells.

Although it was nearly impossible for low-level professionals to kill high-level gods, there was still a chance of those spells actually working. That chance, even if it was but one percent of success, is not one gods would have wanted to take.

Fycro would not have wanted to take on over 10,000 instant-death magic spells being cast at the same time.

Saleen learned the trick of storing instant-death magic spells in the magic net while he was inside the magic cube back then. He sent the information back to Metatrin City right away so that Jason could find ways of refining them.

Jason organized the mages and went on to shoot Death Ray repeatedly in the magic net's vicinity.

Instant-death magic spells were different from elemental magic in that once elemental magic was uploaded in the magic net, the spell could be used repeatedly unless the magic net was broken. The expenditures came from magic nuclei.

Instant-death spells, however, like Death Ray could be used once; reusing them at another time required the spell to be uploaded again into the magic net.

Though troublesome, such spells posed an immense threat. That was because instant-death magic spells caused damage by chance. If the spell and the target were of the same level, success would have depended entirely on luck.

Level differences would have only lowered the spell's success rate instead of nullifying the spell's effects altogether.

Fycro flipped the mirror in his hand and looked at the reverse side. He saw how he was being shot by countless Death Ray, while he went on to destroy many metal towers. They were melted by his divine light while the demons wailed painfully while taking their last breath.
