453 Double Faced Strong Calvary Part 1 (1/2)

Wild Bear's voice was like a resounding roar. It was deafening in a quiet night.

In the magic chariot, the mages took a look with the alchemy telescope and got up to tell the officers, ”It is heavy cavalry, be prepared to set up the alchemy crossbows.”

All ten of the high level swordsmen were officers, they went to collect the alchemy crossbows from the front of the magic chariots. There were four sets in total that were set right in front of the campsite while there were two Black Metal Grand Swordmasters that guarded at the back of the campsite.

The speed of the heavy cavalry far away was extremely slow. Their warhorses were one in a thousand, but even so before any heavy cavalry mounted a charge forward, they had to save their energy. If the warhorses were of a bad quality, they even had to get to a certain distance before they could wear their equipment.

The destruction power of a heavy cavalry was huge, but its flexibility was bad.

The silhouettes faraway were getting clearer, there were about two-hundred people. The two-hundred person heavy cavalry did not manage to wait for Saleen's troop at the original ambush spot, so they had to send flying puppets to probe their location again. They only then realized that Saleen's troop passed through Red Earth Ridge and stopped immediately to rest.

The robbers were angry, but they had no choice. They had to let the heavy cavalry take a break before moving to the east.

Doing it all over again led to the loss of dash for an originally spirited heavy cavalry and they became more careful.

Saleen stood up and the ten high level swordsmen walked past him to set the alchemy crossbows before the campsite. The power of a crossbow varied, with the stronger ones an arrow could shoot through three fold magic armor. The weaker ones would rely entirely on the sharpness of the arrow.

The weapon that the ten swordsmen had were weapon used in an army; alchemy heavy crossbows. Only the royal army was allowed to use such crossbows. If the others were to use it, they would be caught and hanged.

If the enemy was light cavalry, they could speed up from afar and the swordsmen would not be able to set up the alchemy crossbow slowly and steadily. The heavy cavalry had to save the power of their horses. Even if it was a heavy cavalry that were riding magic beasts, they had to speed up within a certain distance.

He felt that his icy sight had improved, he did not need the alchemy telescope and he could see things from eight-hundred meters away clearly. When the cavalry sped up, the dust suddenly flew over the ground and they could hear the heavy clatter of the horses' hooves, as though a giant was hammering the earth.

If the ones around Saleen were normal soldiers, they would have been terrified by such an imposing manner and have been stunned. The ten swordsmen only felt extremely uncomfortable, but they could still fix the crossbow and prepared to shoot.

They were all elites. Theoretically, they would not shoot at the furthest distance a crossbow could shoot but instead wait until people were two-hundred meters in distance. It required a longer time to fix an alchemy crossbow, there was only one shooting time when they were using it against cavalry.

The advantage of an alchemy crossbow was that its penetrative power was extremely strong and those who were shot would be dead on the spot.

”Do not shoot, wait for my order.” Saleen shouted and his voice rang like a magical melody. Although he had not specialized in mental magic, he could easily break the enemy's mental attack. He was a grade-5 mage after all and the enemy was only using the power of their armor.

The ten swordsmen were awakened from their dream and were suddenly covered in a cold sweat.

”Magic heavy cavalry!”

Saleen looked at the two-hundred strong cavalry that was getting closer and got serious. Magic heavy cavalry only existed in theory as to train magic heavy cavalry, one had to have two requirements. First, they have to be magic apprentices, so that they could move their mental power calmly to allow magic armor to be fully utilized. Second, the soldier must be at least a low level swordsman.

It was not that difficult to achieve those two. What was difficult was, unless a teacher give him up, a magic apprentice would not turn over to sword craft and give up magic.

It was easy to find thirty to fifty of them in one nation, but to form a regiment, it seemed impossible. The number of magic apprentices under Lex exceeded a thousand, only one tenth of them were able to become mages. Even so, these magic apprentices did not intend to give up their profession and turn to sword craft.

The two-hundred strong cavalry before their eyes was obviously magic heavy cavalry. Everyone could move the attributes on the magic armor and launch attack. As it was a sound wave attack to affect their enemies mentally, the attack started from eight-hundred meters away.

Such heavy cavalry could break any other battle formation. That was unless their enemies were a bunch of mages.

In Saleen's campsite, not only were there a bunch of mages, there were two magic chariots. Besides the ten high level swordsmen that were slightly affected, such low level mental attack was useless to the rest of the people. Even Wild Bear was only triggered to the point where his eyes gave out killing vibes that were rarely seen. He grunted and brought up his three meter long single edged cut horse sword.

The mages that were resting in the carriage found it odd and immediately there were dozen of spells cast from inside the carriage onto the ten swordsmen. Saleen cast a water shield for Wild Bear too.

The defence power of water shield against magic attacks overtook ice plate armor and it would definitely not affect any movement taken by the protected person. Saleen's water shield had reached a godlike level, a thin layer of water film stuck onto Wild Bear's body and changed its shape according to Wild Bear's action.

The two-hundred strong magic heavy cavalry was wearing purplish red armor and it was reflecting with blood-like rays. This armor was the rarely seen big-leaf armor, it looked like a three fold armor. The helmet of the cavalry was the pattern of the Fourth Dynasty, it was fully enclosed and the eyes were two polished crystals.
