“It seems that Pei Xiuyuan did not care about that either. So, I have kept quiet about it.” He did not even care about it. She found it unnecessary to voice it out.

“Then, don’t think about it anymore.”

“Okay.”

Although Lu Man would want the kid if she found that she was indeed pregnant. But, she felt that it was not a good time for the baby to come now given how things were between her and Pei Xiuyuan. But, she would never think of getting rid of the baby. She just wished that she would not get pregnant.

So, she looked forward to her period every day. It was almost time. She waited impatiently and nervously.

Lu Man was not someone who put her heart on her sleeve. But, Pei Xiuyuan was an attentive man. He cared about her deeply. He could easily look right through her. Moreover, she seemed quite worried.

“Why? What’s wrong? Is it something related to your job?” Her sole worry would be her job now.

“No, my job is fine.” Although her workload in Pei Enterprise was so much heavier than her previous job, it was fine for her given that she loved challenges.

She did not dwell on her relationships with her colleagues either as long as they work together professionally. As time went by, they would realize her true abilities.

“Then, what are you worried about?”

“I’m not worried about anything!” Lu Man replied seriously.

Pei Xiuyuan’s eyes darkened. He did not say anything anymore.

He thought that they had become closer now. But, she was still pushing him out of her world.

Lu Man understood his facial expression by now after being with him for some days.

She knew that he was angry.

She went forward timidly and grabbed his elbow after some hesitation. “Are you angry with me?”

“No,” the man replied calmly and emotionlessly. But, he looked like he was indeed angry.

This man seemed a bit withdrawn.

Lu Man sighed and decided to be frank with him. “I do have some worries lately.”

Pei Xiuyuan waited patiently for her to continue.

“We didn’t have any protection on. I’m afraid that I might get pregnant.”

Pei Xiuyuan kept his silence. But, he seemed much angrier now.

Lu Man became very anxious.

Finally, he asked her. “Don’t you want my kids?”

This fact dawned on him and he was a little upset.

“No, I just feel that it’s not a good time for us to have kids just yet.” They were husband and wife. They would eventually have kids one day. She never thought of not having his kids.

Pei Xiuyuan was quiet again.

Lu Man looked at her. Suddenly, she felt that he was very far from her.

He was always gentle toward her just like a god-like being who warmed her. Suddenly, he had become cold and distant. She was slightly afraid of him when he acted like that.

“You’re right. It’s not the time yet.”

Suddenly, he smiled at her and his voice became gentle again. He went back to his old self, just like how he had always treated her. She could not help but wonder if it was only in her imagination when she saw his coldness just now. He appeared to be unapproachable and distant.

“Yes.”

“But, let’s keep the child if we do get pregnant.” Although it might not be the right time, he still wanted them.

“Okay.”

Lu Man replied without any hesitation. His smile deepened. He was soon warmed by her response.

Lu Man’s period came after a few days. She was instantly relieved.

She was happy about her period for the first time ever.

Pei Xiuyuan was neither happy nor disappointed. It was indeed not the right time for them to have kids. But, he was sad these past few days. It was because he needed to be like Liu Xiahui for the days to come. He could only look at her and hug her. He could not sleep with her.

It was excruciating!

Soon, it was July.
