Lu Man was stunned. What did he need to make up for? Who was he?

“You don’t have to worry about that incident anymore. Just patiently wait for me to come back.”

Lu Man was even more surprised when she heard that. She blurted out, “Who are you? Have you called the wrong number?”

Pei Xiuyuan did not know how to respond to that.

The person on the other side of the phone remained quiet for a while.

Lu Man thought that he had indeed made a wrong call. She was at the point of hanging up the phone when she heard a voice.

“I’m your husband, Pei Xiuyuan.”

“What? What do you mean? What husband? I’m still…” She stopped talking halfway.

‘I’m your husband, Pei Xiuyuan.’

What he said sounded like thunder in Lu Man’s mind. She soon recovered her full senses but could not bring herself to say anything in return.

“Manman?” Pei Xiuyuan called her name.

“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry! I was bewildered because I just woke up.” She did not realize that she was now a married woman.

“It’s fine.” Pei Xiuyuan smiled a little. He could imagine how adorable she might look right now.

Lu Man did not know what else to say. Although they were now husband and wife, they had met only once. They were still strangers to each other.

“I still have a meeting to get to. Rest well.”

“Okay.”

Lu Man covered herself with the blanket when she hung up the phone. She was anxious. How slow her response was! She knew that it was a familiar voice but she did not recognize that it was him. She had even blurted out some nonsensical things.

It was indeed a bad way to react.

She threw the blanket away from her and sat up straight.

‘He told me that I don’t have to worry about that incident anymore. He has also asked me to patiently wait for his return. What does that mean?

‘Has he resolved that issue for me?’

Lu Man wanted to call Pei Xiuyuan to clear her doubts when she finished cleaning herself up and preparing breakfast. At that moment, she got a call from Liang Feiyue.

“Manman, your Big Boss Pei is indeed a great hero!”

“What happened? What did he do?”

“I received a call this morning from the opposing lawyer telling me that they had dropped the lawsuit. They said that it was a misunderstanding. It means that you’re fine now. Your Big Boss Pei had smoothed things out! He had taken care of Wang Yunxi too!” Liang Feiyue could not suppress her excitement.

“Oh, really? Is that so?” Lu Man put down the plate in her hand and said happily.

“What kind of a response is that?”

“He called me this morning telling me not to worry about that anymore.”

“Oh, it means that I had done some unnecessary things.” Liang Feiyue was laughing at her.

“It’s not unnecessary. I did not understand what he said this morning because I just woke up. I even asked him who he is…” Lu Man was embarrassed when she talked about that.

Liang Feiyue could not help but burst out laughing.

“Why don’t we go out and have dinner tonight as a celebration?”

“Good! Let’s celebrate!”
