Saying that, he then turned to leave.

“Hold it there.”

The woman stood up and took a few rapid steps forward. Ling Chen turned his head around and immediately caught the strong smell of perfume hitting his nose and could not help whiffing another breath.

“Is there anything else?”

“Don’t go by the elevator. Use the emergency stairs to go down.”

It had always been her that was staying on this floor alone. Even if she had guests, they would all be female, she had never seen a man step foot there before. If Ling Chen took the elevator down, others would definitely see him and start to gossip.

She was someone who valued privacy and hated being the topic of discussion of others.

Ling Chen was an astute person, so how could he not figure out what she was getting at?

“Where are the stairs?”

“Out the door on your left. Keep walking straight and after passing two doors, then… Forget it, I’ll guide you there.”

The interior of the floor was rather complicated, she was afraid that Ling Chen would barge into other rooms by accident. As she spoke, she walked past Ling Chen to lead the way.

However, before she had even taken a few steps, her ankle suddenly twisted and she seemed to lose the strength in her body. She wobbled unsteadily before starting to fall.

Ling Chen had quick reflexes and before the other party could crash onto the ground, he had hurriedly grabbed onto her body.

Her body was soft and fragrant, but Ling Chen could not think about such pointless stuff, lightly shaking the woman in his embrace.

“Hey, are you alright? Wake up!”

He gently patted the woman’s soft and silky face, trying to wake her, but she seemed to have fainted, not responding at all to him.

Scanning the bed in the middle of the room, he picked up the woman’s delicate frame and lightly placed her on the bed, before checking her pulse.

A few minutes later, his handsome face relaxed, and his eyes revealed relief.

After confirming that the woman was not in any danger, he then loosened his hand, abandoning the thought of calling an ambulance. He quietly stood by the bedside and leisurely admired the woman’s flawless appearance.

Elegant and refined, the woman had a beauty that one could tell from a casual glance. Her outer weakness carried an inner strength hidden within. Although she seemed young, her face bore the weight of years gone by. She was like the plum blossoms, blooming with a noble and elegant temperament.

Looking at this sleeping woman, somehow, Ling Chen couldn’t bear the slightest vulgar thought in his heart. Even though he had seen the other person’s bare body just now, he did not have any impure thoughts then as well.

After a while, the woman on the bed finally woke up.

She sat up groggily, one of her hands caressing her forehead and her eyebrows scrunched in a frown.

“Are you okay? You fainted just now, so I carried you to the bed.”

Hearing his words, the woman saw the dishevelled clothes that Ling Chen was wearing and felt that nothing was out of place with her body. The look she gave Ling Chen became friendlier, there was a trace of trust in it.

“Thank you.”

“Don’t be so polite, it’s something I ought to do.”

“Can I trouble you to hand me my medication?” The woman pointed to a thermal flask on the table.

Ling Chen picked up the flask and opened the lid. Immediately, a thick, bitter stench assaulted his nose.

He sniffed the medicine before a strange light flashed through his eyes.

Returning to the bedside, he did not hand the medicine over to her, instead asking, “Miss, you are ill?”

Colour had returned to the woman’s face and she corrected him. “I’m not called ‘miss’, my name is Liu Xiyao. Whether I’m ill or not has nothing to do with you. Just hand me my medicine and leave.”

Seeing the other party flare up, Ling Chen realised that he had been too direct with his question. He hastily amended, “I’m sorry, please don’t take offence to that. I have no other intentions, but I just want to clarify something. Miss Liu, every time after you administer your medication, do you feel like you are brimming with vitality? Does your head feel clear and can you sleep very well?”
