17 Second Level (2/2)

”Look at that vine. It doesn't look strong at all.” Kerym said.

Dilya nodded. ”Yeah, and what happens if we fall? It's a long way down and I don't know if any of us could survive that.”

”You guys are forgetting about one thing. I can use my shadows to reinforce the vine and even make a crude walkway that we can walk on,” Karl said with a proud face.

”Hmm, I don't know. We don't know if your shadows are strong enough to hold us,” Dilya argued.

Once it was done, Karl took a deep breath and ran across the walkway, being careful not to lose his footing and fall into the abyss below. He was pretty fast, so it didn't take long to arrive at the other island. ”SEE! SIMPLE!” he yelled over to them.

”Simple, my ass,” Dilya cursed.

”I mean, it did look pretty simple,” Heath added.

”Oh shut up.”

Kerym chuckled. ”I didn't know you were afraid of heights. I can carry you if you'd like.”

Dilya rolled her eyes. ”I can do it by myself.”

”If you say so.”

Dilya walked over to the vine and carefully placed her foot on the shadow walkway. Unlike Karl, she didn't run across and took her time. She had a few close calls where she screamed, but Karl was there and saved her with his shadows. Slowly, but surely, she arrived at the other side where Karl was. ”That wasn't scary at all.”

Karl smirked, knowing she was lying. ”ALRIGHT, NEXT ONE!”

”I'll go next,” Kerym said, walking over to the vine. He was a little bit scared that he would fall, but he trusted Karl to save him. Moving faster than Dilya, he made it across and to the other side safely.

”You looked like you were so scared,” Dilya said to Kerym.

”I'm not the one who screamed.”

Dilya became red from embarrassment and softly punched Kerym.

Seeing Kerym get to the other side, Heath started making his way across the shadow walkway. It wasn't easy as he was wearing armor that was heavy, and restricted his movements. He almost fell a few times, but Karl saved him. It took him a while, but he safely made it across. He took off his helmet and wiped the sweat off of his head and let out a sigh of relief.

Karl removed his shadow walkway and went to the group. ”Alright, everyone's here. Good job for making it across safely.”

”Yeah, you too. Other than the floating islands, is there anything else at this level we should know about?” Kerym asked Karl.

”Uhhh, well, this island looks like it's the biggest one. It's mostly plains of rock, but there are trees and vegetation here and there.”

Kerym nodded, taking in the information. ”We should get going before it gets dark, if it even gets dark.”

The group started walking, keeping an eye out for anything that would help them. Unknown to the group, something was watching them below the ground. It wasn't technically watching them, but feeling the vibrations of their footsteps. The creature followed under them, excited of its new visitors.
