Ever since getting this attributes panel, Thulhu had been trying everything to get XP.
Thulhu read common books he found in the library and worked out regularly, but knew from multiple experiments that neither of them worked.
Reading books with special powers or defeating threatening targets were the two methods he was aware of for obtaining XP.
And there were also two preconditions if Thulhu wanted to get XP by defeating an enemy: one was that they had to be matched in power, and the other was that he could only defeat the same enemy for two rounds, and the reward would be cut in half in the second round.
In fact, there was one more way: kill the enemy.
But this way was too cruel. Thulhu had only tried this on the ordinary rats in the sewers.
However, because the power of the two sides didn’t match, Thulhu got zero XP from killing some rats.
But now, the death of a mutant rat finally gained him 10XP!
It was really hard!
Thulhu was so excited that he almost cried in his heart.
Finally, he found a second source of XP after leaving the fight club!
“Good for you, man!”
Shawn laughed and grabbed the pickaxe tight. “Come on, you bloody, filthy things!”
Squeak! Squeak!
The next moment, countless rats emerged in the darkness from deep within the sewer like a tidal wave, and they were now all coming for Shawn and Thulhu!
Taking a closer look, both of them noticed that the rats weren’t mutants, but their numbers were great. Manipulated by the mutant rats, they formed a giant wave!
“Run!”
Seeing that, Thulhu instantly dropped the pickaxe, turned around, and started running for his life.
Thulhu now hated Shawn so much that Thulhu wanted to tear him to pieces!
Shawn was such a jinx!
Squeak! Squeak!
They were running as fast as they could, followed by the wave of rats.
Fortunately, they weren’t very far away from the closest exit. They hurriedly climbed out of the sewer with great difficulty.
They were both gasping hard.
Sitting beside the manhole cover, they finally sighed with relief when they saw that the rats had given up chasing them.
“So the cleaner was hurt because of the mutant rats…” said Thulhu. “To keep working, we’ll need tons of mousetraps and poison. The workload will increase by a lot! Ten silver eagles won’t cover it!”
“Damn!”
Shawn had made up his mind. “I’m going to sue him for contract fraud through the student union! No matter what, I’m not going down there again!”
He looked at Thulhu, feeling extremely sorry. “My bad… I shouldn’t have involved you in this. But I promise you that this is the end of it!”
In fact, Thulhu didn’t believe that Shawn’s complaint would be successful. It was just normal for there to be lots of rats living in the sewers; the only difference was that the rats down here were big.
That cunning employer must have thought up a way to absolve himself.
The best result they could get would be a contract termination. If they were less lucky, they would probably still have to pay some penalty.
However, Shawn decided to take all the responsibility.
“I think… we can still keep working.”
Thulhu had a different idea.
To him, the sewers had turned into a pool of XP, and he wasn’t going to waste it.
“After all, we’re human beings and we’re way smarter than those rats. If we use fire, water, and poison, we’ll kill some of them. The only thing that we need to control is the cost.”
“You’re my brother!”
Shawn was touched and almost teared up. “Thank you for your efforts, but I think…”
“No, I insist,” Thulhu said decisively.
