25 Plot Twist? (1/2)
Preparations for the upcoming war were going at full swing on both sides. Both were determined to crush the other side.
Lizardmen were making crude weapons from bones of creatures slain by them and metals found on the surface of MBN. Their mining technology was not advanced so they can only use crude weapons. But their body itself is a powerful weapon for them. Their plan is to immobilize the dragons first by taking their flight advantage and then swarm them with numbers. A rough comparison on both sides shows the huge difference in numbers but it is still going to be a pyrrhic victory for them.
Whereas Aragons just collected all their available fighting strength after Mordos's ordered the adult dragons to return to the nest and stop hunting for Lizardmen individually. They were just waiting for the Lizardmen to crawl out of their hole and take action. They are confident of their strength and want to crush them before the Aons even show up. Their strategy is to just use their fire attack from the skies and kill the stranglers by swooping on them.
Aragons are confident of their victory as they have already used the same strategy successfully in previous hunts. They also have great faith in the strength of their ruler, Mordos.

But all the preparation on both sides was for naught. As they did not even get a chance to do anything.

Alyx was back in his mansion underground and thinking of all the things that happened after meeting Lantis. He felt like he was dreaming as everything happened so fast and smoothly that it was a bit anticlimactic.
'Hey Ax am I dreaming.'
*No, you are not dreaming, there are no new background processes running and everything is working properly. This is the tenth time you asked the same question.*
'But everything happened so smoothly with no fight. They did not even put up any resistance.'
The reason for this is as soon as Alyx showed up with Lantis it went so smoothly that he felt he was just day dreaming.
Both the Lizardmen and the Aragons froze up as Lantis surfaced from the lake. He could clearly see even the proud and arrogant Aragons shivering upon seeing Lantis. In front of Lantis they all appeared as some bugs which can be squished with no effort.
Alyx was so shocked that he left Ax to take care of everything. Alyx expected Aragons to make a show of force and be arrogant even in front of Lantis but they became mute. At least they have the brain to know what's good for them.
On the way Ax explained the situation to Lantis so as soon as he saw the Aragons on the mountains he threatened them with a ferocious growl. When the Aragons heard it they fled from the region at a fast speed including their ruler Mordos. If they had been any slower they would have definitely been eaten alive by Lantis. Ax during his explanation mentioned that they were a threat to his descendent so Alyx can understand the anger of Lantis.
”I can only release a sigh of relief as Lantis didn't kill them with some magic attack.”
Later Ax called Blag out and asked him to bring his pet out. Blag was confused but he did not refute and just obeyed the order. He knew their lives are of no importance to Aons and they can be killed at any time like swatting a fly. Although he is worried about Shuaan but he can only obey.
Alyx was also anxious as they had no solid proof that Shuaan was a descendent of Lantis. They made a conjecture based on the physical indicators and its intelligence. He did not have any knowledge on genetics and can't do any tests for a confirmation.
”I was relieved that pet of Blag turned out to be a descendant of Lantis. I was praying to all the gods that we were correct. Do you think he would have really killed us if that was not the case?”
*I'm unable to predict that. But we can assume that he is important to Neo and he might get away with it. At the very least he might just make the matter worse.*
Alyx was waiting to meet Neo. He already submitted that the mission was completed and waiting for his reward. He was now doubtful whether they would get any extra rewards as they finished the mission with such ease and did not achieve any of the objectives they set out for. It was no different from a temporary solution. The Aragons might return one day again do some stupid thing.
”Fuck it I'm tired of this shitty mission and it's over now. I just have to look for other source of revenue.”
