24 Lantis 2 (1/2)

Lantis was leaving behind Alyx in search of a new place to rest. He did not want to have anything to do with a weakling who came looking for his help. Alyx did not know what to do and was at a loss on how to convince him.

He was confident earlier that it would not attack him as he was an Aon and it will listen to what he says once he exposed his identity but now Lantis is angry that its sleep got disturbed and would not even give him chance to speak.

Seeing that massive figure moving is a breath taking view but Alyx was not in the mood to enjoy it and was afraid thinking of the consequence of being attacked by that figure. He was nothing but an ant compared to Lantis.

Alyx can't imagine just how many years it took for it to grow to such proportions and how did it survive through those early years and reach its current state. It should have experienced many things in those long years and is no longer afraid of some Aon recruit (A/N: From now on I'll call newborn Aon as Aon recruit).

Alyx knew about Lantis from Neo's explanation of Q10. He mentioned it in passing during one of their meetings.

After accepting the mission Alyx would periodically harass Neo with his questions as the information available on Aon web was not exhaustive and there was no better source of info than Neo. Since he was able to converse directly with the manager of MBN as part of guidance he tried to make full use of it.

'Hey Ax you take it from here I don't want to mess it up.' Alyx didn't want to make any mistakes and he was not good at bluffing so he let Ax do the speaking.

*Alright*

Ax took the task and started speaking to Lantis instead of Alyx. Ax did not feel the mental stress Alyx was feeling so he was better suited for the job. Usually someone would feel insecure leaving things in the hands of others but Alyx got so used to Ax that it became the natural thing for him to do.

”Lantis you have an offspring out there. Don't you want to know its location?” Ax directly went to the core of the topic without any nonsense.

Ax words made Lantis stop in its tracks. It turned around its massive frame so quickly that it once again caused huge chaos at the lake floor. Seeing this Alyx knew that Ax's words have got Lantis attention. This entire plan was based on this single point. If Lantis did not care about it then they have no choice but to flee from here.

Earlier Lantis's eyes were sleepy and languidly open but now they are fully open in a bloodshot manner.

Reproduction is an important part for the survival of all living things and is a primal instinct which defines it. Lantis is no exception to it. Without a mechanism for reproduction, life would come to an end. Lantis wanted to have an offspring of his own as a living creature with intelligence but it was not possible anymore.

Lantis can reproduce through sexual reproduction by mating with a Dragon Turtle but as time went by and his size increased continuously it became impossible to reproduce anymore. Although Neo made it possible for his creation to reproduce with each other but the chances of a birth in interspecies breeding is very low.

When Lantis was small he had many offspring of his own but none of them inherited his mutations and were just slightly bigger Dragon Turtles. He did not consider them as his descendants.

So hearing this Lantis was excited to know that there was a descendent of his out there. Although he was skeptical about it but he was willing to take the chance and verify it on his own.
