Ch 8.2 (2/2)

Her eyes widened and looked at Haley. ”Vice-mayor? Is it Gideon? You made up with Gideon? Eh, he has a fiancée, right?”

Haley winced. ”We're drunk that night, okay? I-it's nothing.”

”Don't be stupid, Haley. You're being like this again, eh,” she reprimanded her cousin. ”He's too old for you!”

”He's only older than me by twelve years. The others out there, the gap is more than decades. Also… it's actually just nothing.”

”You're young. Can't you look for someone in the same age as you, twenty-one or twenty-two? Also, the one with no attachment?” she said again. ”But that Gideon was also at fault. He has a fiancée but still make out with you. Ugh, men!”

”You talk as if your husband is not his cousin.”

She folded her arms in front of her chest. ”I don't care. You have made a fool out of yourself once. Don't repeat it again.” She glanced at Crystal Jane and Lavender who are quietly trying on the shoes there. ”The two of you as well. Try being foolish again for the same guy and you're all going to get hurt. I know you guys have no closure with Reynald, Ramses and Gideon, but that does not mean there will never be a closure in the future. Once and for all, all of your foolishness for those guys must end. They, have moved on. You guys, can't find another? Because of what? Still expecting to end up with them?” she said as a sermon to her cousins.

”Yeah, right, Saphi. You can talk like that because you have yet to fall in love,” Haley muttered. ”You can't blame us or Gideon and the rest on why we're still hoping despite all the pain. Foolish if we're really foolish, but won't you hope for another chance with the man who made you feel so special?”

”No. If that same man is the one who made me feel how stupid I am.”

”It's not all men's fault.” Crystal Jane defended. ”We chose to love them so we faced the consequences.”

”So you agreed to be your guy's rebound girlfriend?” Her sarcastic remark turned Crystal Jane into stone.

”Hey!” Lavender stopped them. ”That's below the belt, Saphi. We get it, you're a man-hater. But you are only mad at them, not because they manipulate women. You're mad at men because you're jealous of your Mom's past boyfriends. Because your Mom always give time to her boyfriend, but to you, she has none!”

”Lavender!” Crystal Jane chastised the other woman.

Sapphire gritted her teeth. ”That's not true!”

”Get real, Sapphire! You're a man-hater if you're a man-hater. But in reality, you're just a daughter who was deprived of her own mother's attention!”

Sapphire could no longer stop herself and charged at Lavender. Among her cousins, this woman had always been fighting with her the most. ”You, b.i.t.c.h! You feel hurt because you cling to Reynald although you know he has a steady girlfriend before! You feel more hurt when he chose his girlfriend rather than you! Instead of hating him, you just loved him more since you're the one who seduced him! You're the third-party!”

Haley screamed when Sapphire and Lavender started pulling each other's hair. Crystal Jane tried to stop them and also the shoe store's saleslady attempted to be the middle-woman.

They looked like children angry at each other's hair. They even threw many knife-like words to each other. Their cousins and the saleslady couldn't stop them until someone called the security guards.

green jokes – ahem, dirty humor/jokes

rebound – it’s basically a distraction to keep a guy or girl from thinking about their recent breakup.
