”General!”
It was almost impossible to shift the mega tree away. The Blood Forces started crying.
The hurricane coupled with those sad cries, the skies were filled with inexplicable sorrow.
Lu Yan raised his eyes, his lips moving. ”F*ck, why are you guys crying? Am I dead yet?!”
”General!”
The Blood Forces wiped their tears away, but even more tears came out.
For so many years, the Blood Forces were a family. Lu Yan was the caretaker of the Blood Forces. He played the role of a father, an elder brother, protecting them. He was just like an eagle, protecting his kids. He had never collapsed, even once.
But now, he was down.
They felt like the sky had just fallen on them. The Blood Forces felt their entire soul disappearing.
What should they do?
They didn't know what to do.
”Li Si!” Lu Yan's voice was so hoarse as he shouted out. Though he was suffering immense pain, he still sounded commanding.
”Yan Zi.” Li Si crawled over, clutching at Lu Yan's large hand.
Lu Yan looked in Li Si's eyes, the cold rainwater traveling down his chiseled facial features. ”Leave with them.”
”General, we're not leaving!”
”General, we'll never leave. If you're not leaving, we're not leaving too. We can't have anyone missing, you said it!”
Lu Yan grit his teeth, cursing with a deep voice. ”Rascals, you're not listening to me now? Everyone listen up, this is an order. Now everyone hold onto each other's hands and leave this place. Report your attendance, all 12 of you in the Blood Forces once you reach safely!”
”General, we really can't leave. Please.”
”General, we don't want to leave you behind here. We want to take you back together with us.”
”General, please. We'll give you a kowtow. Don't make us leave.”
The entire Blood Forces knelt down, giving Lu Yan a kowtow so that Lu Yan wouldn't force them to leave.
Lu Yan shut his eyes, reopening them after a moment. His eyes were slightly bloodshot. ”Everyone get up now. Don't forget your identities. You guys are soldiers. If anyone dares say anything else, then f*cking scram out of the Blood Forces. You're not fit to stay!”
The entire Blood Forces were tearing up, they slowly got up from the ground. How could they disappoint him?
How could they bear to let him down?
The veins on Li Si's forehead began twitching and his eyes were all red. The very first step to becoming a soldier was to obey orders. He also got up from the ground.
The Blood Forces got up with the strong wind blowing around and in the heavy rain.
Lu Yan moved his head, looking in Huo Yanmei's direction.
Huo Yanmei's face was filled with tears. It was all her fault, if only she hadn't come. He looked at her because he had some last words for An'an.
An'an, the only person he had in his heart.
He couldn't bear to let go of her.
Huo Yanmei went in front, saying sobbingly, ”Say it.”
Lu Yan took out the red string from his pocket. The diamond ring was still sparkling as he handed it, together with the blood-stained camellia to Huo Yanmei. ”Pass this to her.”
”Okay.” Huo Yanmei nodded her head vehemently. ”What else?”
What else?
Lu Yan thought about it. He actually had many more words for An'an but he chose to not say it.
He closed his eyes. ”Nothing else.”
Huo Yanmei covered her mouth while weeping. ”Wh-What about the baby?”
Baby?
Lu Yan froze for a moment. The corners of his lips slowly kicked up into a gentle smile. ”Have her… abort it.”
Don't give birth to the child.
She was still young and had a bright future ahead, she didn't need the child to hold her down.
He loved children, but he loved her even more.
He was reminded of the scene before she got in the car earlier on. That exact moment when she placed her hand on her stomach…
What a pity he hadn't touched her stomach, hadn't told the baby, Son, call me Daddy.
They weren't fated this lifetime.
Huo Yanmei turned her head away, she could no longer bear to look at him anymore.
Lu Yan opened his eyes, looking at the darkness above him. ”Blood Forces listen to my order, hold each other's hands and go back now! This is an order!”
The hurricane had come. The next moment, or perhaps a few moments later this entire jungle would end up in a catastrophic mess. They were all pressing for time.
Li Si was crying, the Blood Forces was crying. For so many years, they had overcome so many obstacles and fought in so many battlefields together. They had become an indestructible team, but now these 12 men were sobbing their hearts out.
Li Si lifted his hand, wiping away his tears before standing up straight. ”Attention, salute!”
The Blood Forces stood up straight, saluting Lu Yan.
Lu Yan lifted his arm, saluting back at them.
