Chapter 39

“I don’t want to care about her but for the past three years, the Education Bureau has been complaining to me about Gu Anhao’s bad behavior at A High. She has really embarrassed me and is tarnishing the reputation of the Gu family. I think that I really made the wrong decision by keeping her by my side in the past!”

Mrs. Gu snorted in a cold manner after listening to him. “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself right now? If you did not cheat on me with that cheap and shameless woman twenty years ago, you would not have produced this kind of an illegitimate child that is a thorn in our eyes!”

“You can only blame yourself for your own actions! I was young and silly at that time. That was the only reason why I chose to forgive you for your discretions but I will never accept her into my life. She is nothing but an illegitimate child that was brought into this world by a lowly woman. Gu Anhao is not worthy enough to step into the Gu family. I am already extremely upset that she actually bears the same surname as my precious daughter!”

“Alright, alright, I get it. I just came back from Beijing. Do you really want to start an argument with me now?”

Gu Tianming glanced impatiently at his wife and Gu Shishi, who was standing behind her, at this point. “Shishi, I have already instructed someone to help you with your application to get into the arts school in Canada. I will be able to send you to Canada immediately after the Spring Festival on one condition. You have to promise me that you will keep up your good work and make me proud by winning more awards there. Okay?”

“Dad, when have I ever failed you?” Gu Shishi replied as she tilted her head arrogantly. “Haven’t I gotten the top three spots in the city for each and every one of my art works?”

“The only reason you always get the top three spots is because of your father’s status in A City. Who would have the guts to embarrass my daughter? If anyone has the audacity to leave you out of the top three spots, I will make sure that that person’s family pays the price for their mistake!”

“Okay, Daddy. I have always worked hard. I promise that I will not let you down.”

Gu Anhao watched from afar as the family of three walked through the entrance of the hotel with smiles on their faces.

She should have already been accustomed to the Gu family’s slander and gossip behind her back. She should have already been accustomed to the fact that to the Gu family, she was nothing more than an illegitimate child that should not have been brought into this world. Moreover, Gu Anhao had never expected her father to have any sense of humanity or compassion toward her.

However, after listening to their conversations, it seemed as though Mrs. Gu and Gu Shishi did not tell her father that they set up a trap to frame her. In other words, Gu Tianming did not know that she was already married.

Anyway, it did not matter whether he knew about the incident or not. After all, it was her one and only opportunity to leave the Gu family.

Gu Anhao calmed herself down after watching the family of three disappear into the hotel. After that, she stepped into the hotel.

The last time she was at the Deways Hotel, she was so drunk that she actually delivered red wine to the wrong room. She was caught by Zuo Hancheng and he drenched her in cold water so that she would sober up.

This time, she came here again because she wanted to create a big scene to embarrass Zuo Hancheng. She had already decided that she would take revenge on him, right from the very beginning.

However, the hotel was really enormous. All of the hotel staff and guests were busy hustling and walking in and out of the hotel. Moreover, Mobai sounded really busy when Gu Anhao called him earlier. All that he said was that CEO Zuo would be at the Deways Hotel today. He did not tell her which room or lounge he would be at. Gu Anhao knew that none of the hotel staff would tell her about Zuo Hancheng’s whereabouts. Therefore, the only thing that she could do was to search for him on each and every floor.

When Gu Anhao arrived at the seventh floor, she saw a directory of the hotel on the room service desk.

She lost all of her strength as soon as she glanced at the directory.

Deways Hotel was a thirty-eight-storey building. The first eighteen floors were all hotel rooms and the next few floors above it consisted of a very well-known entertainment club. The higher floors then consisted of a gym, a swimming pool, and there were many floors consisting of conference rooms that were specially built to host meetings for leaders and businessmen all over the world. There were also two floors that were wholly dedicated for restaurants and lounge areas.

Oh my God! How would she ever be able to find him?

Since Zuo Hancheng was here for a business meeting with another businessman, Gu Anhao was certain that he would be between the twenty-eighth to thirty-fifth floor.
