Chapter 538: Chapter 545: Won’t Kill You

Sikong Ling had originally intended to keep his thoughts to himself, but unfortunately, Su Wenyue’s clumsy attempt at concealment couldn’t hide the smugness on her face and in her heart. Given Sikong Ling’s wicked sense of humor, it was inevitable that he’d feel compelled to take her down a peg.

At first, Su Wenyue didn’t react to his words, but once she realized that Sikong Ling was making fun of her, she felt both annoyed and embarrassed. Pointing at Sikong Ling, she snapped, “What do you mean by that, Sikong Ling? Are you mocking me for being too clever by half?”

“I never said that. It’s you who’s trying to match the shoe to your foot, not my problem,” Sikong Ling replied, shrugging his shoulders with an innocent look on his face. Yet, the mischievous grin at the corner of his mouth was so annoying to look at. If you’re going to feign innocence, at least act the part convincingly. But no, he had to deliberately give himself away, which was like a blatant disrespect for someone else’s intelligence and made her even more upset.

Su Wenyue felt her head was on fire at that moment. Why was this man so detestable? Even though he was somewhat different from the Sikong Ling of her previous life, the bad genes inside him hadn’t changed one bit.

“Sikong Ling, you bastard, get the hell out of here right now or I am going to make you regret it!” shouted Su Wenyue furiously, her face turning red with rage. She had felt a rare moment of triumph, only to have it burst by someone right to her face. No one could remain calm in such a situation, especially since Su Wenyue had become much more willful these days, with no intention of holding back her feelings.

“Wow, someone’s getting all fierce. It seems like someone’s really embarrassed and angry. You can’t take a joke at all! The thing is, women are so petty. Hard truths are hard to hear. I was merely telling the truth, yet some people don’t like to hear it. But with the facts laid out before me, I can’t lie through my teeth, can I?” Sikong Ling was not only refusing to leave, but he was also talking a good game, as if to infuriate Su Wenyue even more.

Su Wenyue felt steam practically coming out of her forehead. That bastard Sikong Ling! Did she owe him something in her past life? Seeing him refusing to leave and continuing to spout irritating words, she grabbed a vase from beside her and threw it at Sikong Ling.

“Get out now, Sikong Ling, or you’ll see if I don’t beat you to death!” Su Wenyue didn’t hit Sikong Ling with the vase she threw, but she felt somewhat relieved. It seemed like a good way to vent her anger. After all, everything in this room belonged to Sikong Ling. She wouldn’t feel sorry for breaking his stuff.

“Tsk, tsk, your aim needs work. With that frail body and such feeble strength, you hoped to actually hit someone?” Sikong Ling dodged the objects being thrown at him while taunting her relentlessly, clearly enjoying fanning the flames and seeing Su Wenyue’s face turn beet red, a satisfied smile creeping onto his lips.

“Sikong Ling, if you have guts, don’t run away. If I don’t turn you black and blue today, then I’m not Su Wenyue!” Su Wenyue couldn’t stand the provocation; she didn’t care about anything anymore. Before, she had held back, just intending to drive him away, but now she grabbed anything she could to throw at Sikong Ling, and when that didn’t work, she charged at him with a stick-like object in her hands.

Sikong Ling was certainly agile, dodging this way and that as Su Wenyue threw objects at him. He even had the leisure to laugh at her. Seeing her come at him with a stick, looking like she was about to beat him senseless in her rage, he finally realized things had gone too far and waved his hands in dismissal, preparing to leave.

“I have other matters to attend to today, so I won’t keep you company any longer. Enjoy yourself,” he said.

“If you dare, don’t run away! I promise I won’t kill you!” Su Wenyue chased after him with the stick, poised to give Sikong Ling a good thrashing.
