Chapter 566: Chapter 572: A Sign

Su Wenyue had no time to tighten her grip when the string of her bracelet inexplicably snapped, beads spilling to the floor and scattering around, causing an immediate jump in her heart and the sensation of an ominous premonition.

In the past, Su Wenyue might have thought she was overreacting, but experience had shown her that such feelings often came true, especially between Husband and Wife. When she had previously jumped off the cliff, Han Yu later mentioned feeling a sudden pang of pain in his heart, initially dismissing it as an illusion. Though such mystical connections sounded absurd, they sometimes existed, especially now that Han Yu was doing dangerous work outside. The breakage of the bracelet’s beads seemed like a harbinger.

Although there hadn’t been any bad news regarding Han Yu so far, there had been no word from him for several days. Previously, Su Wenyue always received messages from Han Yu reassuring her of his well-being, probably because he was aware of her worries. Even if he was very busy, he would still send a message, even if it was just the simple word “safe.”

Now, several days had passed with no messages, and Su Wenyue didn’t know whether it was because Han Yu was in a situation where communication was inconvenient or due to some other reason, or even if he had met with an accident.

Su Wenyue’s mind was in turmoil, but thanks to the mental preparation Han Yu had provided her, her worries did not completely overwhelm her, especially in front of their three Children. She maintained a smile on her face, masking any negative emotions.

Due to her previous accident, the three Children had become particularly sensitive, prone to worrying over the slightest things. Brother Xing was the most obvious in this regard; if she were away for a bit too long, he would surely search everywhere for her with his Younger Sister.

The Children didn’t cling as much to Han Yu primarily because he was usually busy with matters outside, often away from home. It wasn’t unusual for him to not return for several days, prompting the Children to occasionally ask “Why hasn’t daddy come home yet?” Unlike their Mother, who spent the majority of her time with them, they would definitely worry and fear if something truly happened to Han Yu.

While Su Wenyue generally didn’t hide everyday matters from the Children, wanting them to grow up in such an environment, she didn’t want to burden them with too much pressure beyond what they could handle. Anything more would be counterproductive.

“Mother, why did your bracelet break? Sister Yu will pick them up for you,” Sister Yu said regretfully, seeing the attractive bracelet suddenly fall apart. She bent down eagerly to collect the beads, worried that Su Wenyue would be upset. Brother Chen also came forward to help, while Brother Xing stood still, giving Su Wenyue a concerned look, clearly noticing her momentary daze.

“Brother Xing, what’s wrong? Why don’t you help your younger brother and sister pick up the beads? Mother is waiting for you all to gather them up so we can restring the bracelet,” said Su Wenyue, not failing to notice Brother Xing’s worried gaze. However, unsure how to explain the situation to him, she deliberately overlooked these concerns and smiled warmly at Brother Xing.

Seeing his Mother behave this way, Brother Xing, though reluctant to express his worries, seemed to guess that his Mother was probably worried about Father due to the unexpected breakage of the bracelet—a bad omen. Not wanting to upset his Mother, he followed her lead.

“Mother, don’t worry. Brother Xing will make sure that we pick up all of the beads from the bracelet. You have to be happy,” said Brother Xing obediently and affectionately. Su Wenyue wanted to say something in return, but Brother Xing had already begun to collect the beads.
