Chapter 32 – 32 Substitute Shopping on a Rainy Day
“Tong Ya!”
Chen Yu almost subconsciously called out Tong Ya’s name softly.
But the next moment, he shook his head.
In fact, he knew in his heart that after spending the past few days together, he seemed to have become inseparable from Tong Ya.
And he admitted that he had developed some subtle feelings for Tong Ya.
Still, he forcefully suppressed these thoughts to the bottom of his heart.
Only because he was clear that he was divorced and had a child.
And Tong Ya was too perfect; Chen Yu didn’t want to disrupt her life.
Besides, Tong Ya had her own things to deal with and couldn’t possibly come to help in his shop every day!
Chen Yu kept brainwashing himself with these reasons.
But the more he thought about it, the more frustrated and disordered his mind became, even slowing down the work in his hands.
Before long, Chen Yu suddenly stood up.
“She couldn’t have run into some trouble, could she?”
Talking to himself, Chen Yu almost instinctively picked up his phone and sent a message.
“Are you awake?”
After sending the message, Chen Yu regretted it.
The question seemed as if he was questioning why she hadn’t come to help.
But it was too late; the message couldn’t be taken back.
“Are you thinking about me?”
The sudden reply made Chen Yu freeze for a moment.
As he was pondering what to reply, another message from Tong Ya came through.
“I have a fever, and I feel terrible. I’m afraid I won’t be able to take Tuan Tuan to school today.”
“How could this be? You were fine last night.”
“I got my period.” Tong Ya seemed to do it on purpose, not avoiding the topic in her messages.
However, Chen Yu sighed with relief, glad that Tong Ya was just sick.
“Then you should rest well.”
Tong Ya: “But I feel awful. I want to eat your fried cakes and vegetable turnovers.”
Chen Yu: “Sure, I’ll bring them over at noon when I get a chance.”
Tong Ya: “Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
Chen Yu breathed a sigh of relief, then set his phone aside and continued to busy himself.
The rain outside was getting heavier, and by four-thirty, no customers had shown up.
Chen Yu took the opportunity to make some extra semi-finished products.
Before long, two elderly women hurried into the shop with their umbrellas.
“Chen Yu, you really moved so suddenly.”
“This place is indeed spacious.”
Chen Yu quickly got up, “Sorry, aunties, I haven’t bought chairs and tables yet.”
“Hey, no worries. We’re used to these kinds of small stools.”
The two elderly women rubbed their hands together, set their umbrellas aside, and then took out several large and sturdy food bags from their bodies.
“Chen Yu, it’s raining and cold, and the ground is slippery. Many neighbors have trouble walking and can’t come out, so they asked us to buy for them.”
Chen Yu didn’t say much, just made an okay gesture and began to make fried cakes and vegetable dumplings.
Both women were regular customers, and many neighbors had been brought in by them.
They would definitely not make secret purchases without Chen Yu’s knowledge.
As the two elderly women kept receiving messages and sorting orders, a considerable sum came up—three thousand fried cakes and a thousand vegetable turnovers.
“Aunties, there’s so much. You might not be able to take it all back. Should I help you take it back later?”
The two elderly women waved their hands.
“No need, we both came on mobility scooters.”
Chen Yu looked out through the window and saw that indeed, each of the elderly women had arrived on a small, older-model mobility scooter.
