Chapter 35 – 35 Recruiting Waitstaff
Chen Yu closed his eyes, barely able to contain the surprise and excitement in his heart.
Although his body was now beyond its limit and he didn’t know when he would fall asleep,
the feeling of fulfillment gave him an unprecedented sense of refreshment.
However, his body still started to sway uncontrollably.
Tong Ya hurried forward to support him, “Are you alright? Go and rest for a bit, you’ve been tired all day.”
Chen Yu, however, waved his hand, “The raw materials in the cold storage might only last until the day after tomorrow. We need to find a way to get more.”
Tong Ya had no choice but to agree verbally while helping Chen Yu up the stairs.
The next morning when Chen Yu opened his eyes, he found it was already five o’clock.
He was startled for a moment and hurriedly jumped out of bed.
The lobby on the first floor was already filling up with people.
Tuan Tuan and Tang Xiaowei were moving among the customers in an orderly manner.
The rich aroma of fried cakes and vegetable turnovers had long filled the shop.
Only then did Chen Yu notice that Tong Ya, with her head covered in sweat, was struggling to make fried cakes and turnovers in the kitchen.
Her body was naturally frail, and it was uncertain whether she had recovered from her illness the day before.
What’s more, her speed making fried cakes and turnovers was indeed too slow, and customers had become impatient and started to urge her on.
“Boss Chen is down!”
Someone shouted, and all the customers looked over in unison.
“No wonder this girl comes every day. It turns out she’s a disciple trained by Boss Chen.”
“The fried cakes and turnovers she makes taste the same as Boss Chen’s, but the speed is too slow.”
“Boss Chen, are you feeling better? If not, go back and rest. We’ll come again tomorrow.”
…
Chen Yu immediately understood that Tong Ya wanted him to rest a bit more.
He had also called Tang Xiaowei over to act as help.
Without hesitation, Chen Yu rolled up his sleeves and entered the kitchen.
When he saw the delicate figure of Tong Ya drenched in sweat, he felt an inexplicable tremor in his heart.
He unconsciously took a tissue to wipe her sweat and moved a chair for her to sit at the side.
“It’s okay, leave the rest to me!”
Tong Ya smiled sweetly and obediently sat down, taking a sip of warm water.
Perhaps because he was well-rested, Chen Yu felt a surge of inexhaustible energy throughout his body.
As the speed increased, the customers’ wait time began to shorten.
Yesterday, Xie Jiang had brought over a set of tables and chairs that came with an ordering system.
The customers only needed to scan the QR code on the tables to place their orders directly.
Both the bar and the kitchen had printers, which better consolidated all the information.
This was much more convenient and faster than the handwritten tickets that Tuan Tuan used to make.
Chen Yu, looking at the tickets coming out from the side, felt a few more pangs of satisfaction.
While he was sleeping, Tong Ya had assigned numbers to all the tables on the first and second floors.
They just needed to plate the fried cakes and turnovers according to the order quantities, slip in the tickets, and people outside could get their orders based on the ticket numbers.
This model indeed sped up the operation.
However, the number of people visiting the shop today seemed to be more than usual; not only were the first and second floors full, but there were also people coming in and lining up outside.
Chen Yu couldn’t help but think, it looks like we need to hire some waiters.
