Chapter 7 (1/2)
Don’t Make Things Too Ugly
However, Jiang Youyi dodged him mercilessly.
“Youyi, can you tell me what’s going on between us? What mistake did I make for you to punish me like this? You clearly know how much I love you.” Xu Yuning’s face was filled with pain, but he was not pretending.
If anyone else was here, they would probably not be able to be ruthless to such a handsome and affectionate face. Unfortunately, the person sitting here was Jiang Youyi, who had been reborn.
“Xu Yuning, I’ll explain to everyone what happened between us in front of the elders of the two families tomorrow. See you at the Rose Garden tomorrow.”
“Other than needing to give me an explanation for our relationship, you don’t have to explain it to anyone. You just have to tell me the truth. As for the others, I can explain it to them for you.” Xu Yuning could sense Jiang Youyi’s obvious coldness, but he still didn’t want to give up.
“Let’s part on good terms. Don’t make things too ugly. Leave. I don’t have anything to explain to you alone.” Jiang Youyi’s tone was neither cold nor indifferent, but her slightly darkened eyes were already giving people a lot of pressure. The two of them had known each other for five years, and he had been carefully managing their relationship. He had long known that he liked Jiang Youyi more than she liked him. But who asked him to be willing?
Even though he was indignant, he did not want to make Jiang Youyi angry. No matter what problems or misunderstandings there were between the two of them, even if Jiang Youyi wanted to raise other conditions tomorrow, he would agree as long as it was within his ability. It was fine as long as she married him.
The room was silent for a long time. Xu Yuning slowly got up. “See you tomorrow then. Sleep early and don’t stay up late.”
On one end, Xu Yuning left the Jiang Family reluctantly. On the other end, the Lu Family was also bustling.
After Lu Yunxiao took over the family business, he moved out and lived alone. In the past, when his grandparents were still around, he would often come back to visit the two elders. Ever since his grandfather passed away last year and his grandmother went to his aunt’s house to retire, Lu Yunxiao did not come back anymore.
It was because his biological mother had passed away from illness more than 10 years ago. In less than a year, his father anxiously married his second wife. His stepmother was Mr. Lu’s high school classmate, an unpopular female celebrity.
After Mr. Lu remarried, the relationship between the father and son, who were not close to begin with, became even more distant. Today, Mr. Lu specially called his son and asked him to come back for dinner. Lu Yunxiao roughly knew what he wanted to ask.
In the Lu Family’s courtyard, more than 10 delicious dishes were placed in front of the three of them. Lu Yunxiao ate the food in his bowl absent-mindedly and seemed very silent. On the other hand, his stepmother, Du Meihong, smiled and said, “Yunxiao, your father said that you like bamboo shoots. I specially got someone to dig them out from the lake today. Try them and see how they taste.”
“Yes.” Lu Yunxiao’s tone was calm, but he did not reach out to pick up the dish.
