Chapter 65: Ice Cream (1/2)
Chu Fu’s way of handling things made Bai Yan reach a whole new level of respect for her. During the first level of the game, she was just sobbing her eyes out, and compared to before, she seemed like an entirely different person.
However, Chu Fu also knew fear.
And after she pulled open the freezer, she hesitated and didn’t do anything else.
Cai Yu, whose face showed that she wanted to go in the freezer badly, was standing on her tiptoes, so Chu Fu softly said, “Xiao Yu, promise sister that you won’t randomly touch things inside the freezer and just stand over here to look, okay?”
Cai Yu was always obedient and listened to her elder’s words, but after hearing what the sister had said, she violently shook her head like a drum-shaped rattle, “No, sister. Brother said that mommy is inside. I need to quickly pull mommy out and save her!”
Upon hearing this, Chu Fu’s eyes immediately became unsightly. The anger she couldn’t express through words was sent to Bai Yan through the daggers she cast through her eyes. Saying this to a mere child, wasn’t that sending her to a death sentence?
However, letting NPCs find their own path was the constant strategy used by all players. Even if she riskily snitched on Bai Yan in the forum, wasn’t the one observing the situation would also be her.
Chu Fu’s heart was filled with resentment, thinking in her heart that Bai Yan wasn’t playing around at all. He could even have the heart to turn his hand against this young child.
She never stopped Cai Yu.
And without Chu Fu’s obstruction, Cai Yu used both her hands to pull on the edge of the freezer, putting all of her energy into jumping and going inside the freezer.
After hopping in, Cai Yu’s little face couldn’t help but show a twinge of red since she knew that this was wrong.
She worriedly looked left and right and discovered that besides brother and sister, there weren’t any other people in their surroundings.
Knowing that no one else saw her stepping on and making the frozen treats dirty, which meant that no one would scold her, Cai Yu relaxed her breath and said in a soft tone, “Brother, sister, help me by keeping watch. If there’s a person, yell at me to come out.”
After saying this, Cai Yu began to use her small hands to flip over the contents of the freezer.
She started digging her way down the area, throwing the trampled on ice cream, popsicles, and other frozen treats to the side.
As her body also lowered inside the freezer, Cai Yu soon found a glistening object, her eyes twinkled in an instant——
What she was a pitch-black and wide opened eye!
As soon as Cai Yu turned her small melon-like head, she thought that she got something. ‘Yesterday, mommy disappeared here, then this eye must be mommy’s and can’t be anyone else’s.’
‘Mommy must’ve carelessly fallen into the freezer. No wonder I couldn’t find her anywhere yesterday!’
“Mommy!”
She couldn’t contain her emotions and yelled out. Her mouth couldn’t help but hook up into a sweet smile, exposing a shallow dimple.
‘Brother didn’t lie to me! Mommy was really buried under the ice cream!’
Almost immediately, Cai Yu began digging more vigorously. Despite her tiny yet freezing hands turning red from the chilliness, she continued to do her best, setting aside the ice cream sitting on top of the eye.
She had only stayed in the freezer for a short while before feeling the chill, then her mom would have suffered more.
“Mommy, I found you!”
A foot away from the freezer, Bai Yan leaned in closer when he heard Cai Yu’s shouts, taking in the whole scene happening in the freezer.
Inside the cool storage unit, Cai Yu was sitting on a pile of ice cream, her hands continuously taking out the ice cream from a hole.
And in the hole, it exposed a deathly pale woman.
The woman had her eyes open, looking like she died with a remaining grievance. Gleaming crystal ice shards laid on her hair, but what was weird was, a serene smile still hung on her face.
When she finally dug her mom out, Cai Yu was brimming with joy. She looked at her motionless mom, only showing a smile with her eyes, and assumed that there was still a lot of ice cream over her body, so her mom couldn’t get up.
Upon seeing this, she continued to work hard on digging. She set the frozen treats that laid on top of her mom behind her while turning her head to face Bai Yan and Chu Fu, showing them a grateful and sweet smile.
Seeing Cai Yu’s sweet smile, Bai Yan also flashed a smile back to her.
Bai Yan’s grin was indeed from the heart. He thought that this scene was fantastic, leading his heart to be filled with satisfaction and emotion.
It was the dawn of a new era of Cai Yu saving her mother, which was more interesting than lying on the ice. Moreover, Chu Fu had long since shut her mouth, giving him a momentarily peaceful atmosphere.
There was a small part of Bai Yan that didn’t want to look for the way out and wanted for Cai Yu to keep digging.
Except for the moment when Wang Ze died, his mind had grown unstable. He had since found a disagreeable person and was given away by Chu Fu in the forum.
Later on, along with the game getting more and more exciting, the agitation he felt in his heart had gradually settled down since he didn’t need to do anything specifically, but the game’s world would still manufacture tragedy after tragedy.
The game’s world in itself had a lot of jokes.
Cai Yu dug out a lot of ice creams, finally excavating out half of her mom’s body.
Seeing that her mom was still not moving, Cai Yu used her small tomato red hands to tug on her mom’s hand, trying to pull her up.
What made people amazed was that the woman’s corpse was unexpectedly pulled up.
She stiffly lifted her upper abdomen and held Cai Yu in a loving embrace.
As for Cai Yu, she nestled in the woman’s hold, sweetly smiling, as if only resting in her mom’s arms made her mind feel at ease and not be afraid of anything too.
Even if this was a horrible situation, the scene looked incredibly warm.
Seeing this, Chu Fu was deeply moved, mumbling to herself in a low voice, “Could it be that there were good ghosts in the game?”
Cai Yu smiled with happiness, so Chu Fu couldn’t bear to disturb this spectacle of a mother-daughter reunion.
Chu Fu originally believed that all ghosts couldn’t recognize their family, but seeing Cai Yu and her mother’s serene expressions and how the woman tightly held the girl, people would start to doubt if she were an evil spirit.
For a moment, Chu Fu didn’t know what to say. She stared at the woman’s corpse and Cai Yu in a dumbstruck manner, not knowing if she should pull Cai Yu free or just continue watching right now.
Like Chu Fu, Bai Yan also quietly watched this scene unfold.
