296 No Pregnancy For There To Be A Miscarriage (2/2)

He ran his hand through his head in frustration. He thought they had developed something between them like they had progressed past the dressed lies or fancy deceits but apparently, she would rather be cooking up all the storms in her than share it with him.

He understood her. She was habitual of a rogue lifestyle, where she could do what she wanted. Running away or escaping had been her best refuge until now and it is hard for her to think that she will have to burn all the bridges to be with him.

Then she will have to live with some expectations and standards and she wanted to be a free bird. Not to mention how his family was an eye-sore for her, the most he can do is keep them at bay, he can't execute them!

It was like only he was in their relationship and she was finding every possible reason to dissolve it. His fault for falling first!

But what could he do?! He had been moving the whole city just to please her and make it finally work between them!

”There was no child…” Madam Li murmured under her breath, still trying to process the news.

Li Yuan's head snapped to her as a glare set to place, ”What are you doing here at this hour, Mom. And next time please knock!”

Though he wasn't particularly disturbed Lei Xinyi was but for his mother to see him in this position can't really be comforting and there was a chance she could have entered minutes later when he was far in too 'deep' in her.

Now That would have been mortifying…

In any case, he didn't want to disregard his mother in front of Lei Xinyi just as he didn't want to argue with Lei Xinyi in front of his mother. They were two women who were there to stay in his life and he was in no way ready to see a power play for a lifetime.

The two high-headed women would never concede and he wasn't aiming for it either. They could just survive co-existing and he would be the happiest man on Earth. He didn't want to spend the rest of his life trying to pull their hairs out of each other fists.

Madam Li pouted and pushed on his chest with her every word, ”So now that she is here, this is how you will treat your mother?! Was she the one who suffered 21 torturous hours bringing you into this world, so you talk back to your mother?!”

He held her hands that were pushing in futile efforts on his chest, ”Mom, stop it!”

Madam Li glared at him and sneered, ”That woman in there lied to you to be pregnant with your child! She impersonated to be your fiancé for your fortune! For f*cks sake she is a murder and someone your ancestors fought years against…”

”Your son is a murderer too and so are you!” Her mother stilled at the statement, in her jealousy and rage she had made some cruel moves but it stung when her son rubbed it in her face, ”Like here every man in this family has his hands on blood before he reaches a legal age so drop it!”

He turned away and ran his hand through his hair in agitation. He turned to her with stern tone, ”Mom, that woman who you just called a wh*re is the woman who will be your daughter-in-law, the mother of your grandchildren and the wife of your son and this is out of f*cking discussions!” He ended with his jaw clenched.

Madam Li froze for a moment as her words stuck in her throat, she had a lot to say instead she only nodded her head.

He was an exact carbon copy of his father but he had never treated her as his father treated; like she was a retard, a flat tire, a bother. He had never shouted at her before.

Her son was the only one in the world she could call her own and now… even he was slipping through the cracks of her fingers as a beautiful woman entered his life and no matter how tight would she fist her hands that wouldn't make him stay.

Her heart beat like raindrops drummed the ground and her eyes burnt with the building pressure.

He read her eyes as he read Lei Xinyi's and pulled her on the bed to sit. Hugging her tight, he kissed the crown of her head. The floodgates keeping her heart locked together broke and tears welled up in her eye.

She hiccupped and burst out, ”I just want you to be happy and… safe…”
