”So, this is a polite rejection?”

Mr Liao chuckled at the meek voice of the once confident girl and shook his head, ”No, this is a proposition.” Lu Xinyi gave him confused stares which he returned with a determined smile, ”This will not work for literature but if this was filmed, it will be a one-way ticket to fame on new levels.”

Lu Xinyi looked at him shocked and didn't know what to say for a moment. She shook her head to clear her head, then looked at him with an exasperated expression, ”You want me to make it into a script?”

Mr Liao pursed his lips but nodded, ”That's a proposition. A Hollywood director wanted to film such a story with dramatic, realistic and adventure. When I showed him a copy of your novel, he was convinced he wanted the very storyline. For your first project, I will tell you it's like a golden ticket to heaven express!”

Several second of silence extended between them and the wheels in Lu Xinyi head turned. It was, in fact, a golden sparrow that too for her debut.

Authors waited for years to get such success!

It could give her several opportunities and platforms in the future... It was something like she wanted to jump on her feet and grab the opportunity but instead kept her professionalism intact.

Now she could finally show everybody that she very well could handle the independence she demanded! And that she was capable and worth something...

”I will consider it and my Assistant will let you know my decision.” Lu Xinyi stood up, gave him a professional smile and extended her hand for a shake.

The man too stood up, took her hand and gave her a formal smile, ”I will wait for your response.”

The listener, speaker and audience all knew she was convinced and the deal was on.

Lu Xinyi got out and at once Riley caught up with her, excitedly interrogating about the meeting.

She filled her in all the juicy details on her way to the car.

They both got settled in the car, happy and contented with how their day had passed. Riley looked at Lu Xinyi and asked in an excited tone, ”So where are we heading too?”

Lu Xinyi squinted her eyes with a gleeful smile. There were a lot of places that she wanted to visit. All kind of public places she had never been to.

She wanted to see how her countrymen became festive and celebrate with them in enthusiasm, she wanted to do and see everything the high society had deprived her of.

But her excitement was short-lived when a thought struck her. Right now, she had to cut the loose strand of her past that was still pulling her strings.

Lu Xinyi turned to the driver with a new-found determination in her eyes, ”Take us to the Li Corporation.”

Riley and the Driver both were equally stunned but they were fast to cover it up and complied.

Lu Xinyi bit her lip in thought, she had no idea what her father had planed about the engagement now. She had tried to talk to him about it a couple of times but in vain, he would always give her vague replies and end the discussion.

For God sake, the man had a woman pregnant! How could they still see possibilities here were beyond her.

But Li Yuan was a twisted man, what if he thought to keep her because of the same face they shared, now that his lover had fled? She didn't want to be a replacement or look-alike of another woman for her whole life!

Lu Xinyi knew that if even the marriage with Li Yuan is annulled, it will be another arrange marriage that will follow it on the horizon but Lu Xinyi wanted to find love and live with a man not because a contract is imposing it but because her heart craves him.

The times and situations were different now, she will have it.
