Chapter 107: Victory Royale (2/2)

”You know I think I heard of that name. Its sure rings a bell.” Zinnia muttered.

Alton coughed sitting up slowly. ”Well, it should defiantly ring a bell then. Because that's the guy who put Henry Truman behind bars the first time.”

Scarlett cupped her chin humming. ”Eyes Over Reality.”

”Truman. Florence's older brother then.” Zinnia added. ”You sure he was the one who attacked you?”

”As sure as I need to be. That was without a doubt him.”

”Not that I doubt you Alton, but it still says here he's locked behind bars,” Gale said, showing an active prisoner list. ”You think he's using illusions to escape.”

”No, I've already checked into it, they had special equipment to bypass his illusions, but it was only through electrical means like cameras.”

Alton held the calling card in hand flipping it around. ”The competition is only two weeks away. Seems like if want answers that's the place to go.”

Zinnia turned to Alton raising her eyebrow. ”So, you're entering?”

Alton snuggled up under his blankets, throwing the calling card aside. ”Nah. Don't feel like it.”

”What?!” They all yelled.

”I thought you would be the first one on this tail, he tried killing you,” Emil argued.

Alton rolled over mumbling. ”Not the first time someone has tried. Probably won't be the last. I don't really like the idea of boarding the so-called hype train for a stupid test your might type Battle Royale. Doesn't interest me one bit.”

”Seriously?” Zinnia gasped. ”But you were in the top five most likely to win. Diego had his money on you.”

Alton poked his head out sighing. ”Don't get me wrong, I could probably win that contest pretty easily. Compared to Vanguard and Paradox that should be a walk in the park. But I don't like getting into fights if I don't need to. So, I'd rather lie in this comfy bed and get some sleep. I'll watch it on the news and cheer on Alice if she goes on.”

”But Eyes Over Reality challenged you. He'll expose your darkest secret.”

Alton snarked at the threat taking the card off Gale. ”I don't care what this EOR claims he's got on me. If he wants to fight me, he knows where to find me. I'm not taking part in some glorified tournament arc to see what secret he's holding.”

”So that's it then?” Scarlett questioned.

”End of story, in fact, I'm already reading the sequel so yeah that's that.” Alton snapped, turning off the stream. ”If you guys want to enter, don't let me stop you. Could be a good experience, I guess.”

”Nothing at all could change your mind in taking part?” Gale questioned suspiciously.

”Not a single thing.”

Gale spun his phone around. ”What about the prize for winning then? The winner of this year's V.I.R.A.L league gets one their one wish granted no matter what. It could be anything that doesn't harm the safety of Victoria.”

”A wish? Is that even possible?” Zinnia yelled, taking the phone off Gale. ”Can V.I.R.A.L do that?”

Scarlett gave it some thought shrugging her shoulders. ”I guess it's not highly unlikely for an Antihuman to have that sort of power. It's possible. Although it says here only things that are possible. No bringing people back from the dead or world domination. Shame.”

”About which one?” Emil whispered. ”What do you think, Alton?”

Alton was already on his phone looking up the legality on this so-called wish. He dropped the phone from his hand with a dazed look before he scoffed to himself. ”Well, this just changed everything. Using this logic, what if EOR doesn't have any dirt on me but plans on winning using this wish to expose and destroy us.”

”That did not cross my mind, that could be very worrying. With that sort of possibility, there would be nothing we could do if he wins.” Scarlett said concerned.

Zinnia began smiling as far as the eye could see as she leaned forward on Alton's bed. ”Does this mean what I think this means?”

Alton sighed waving his hand, annoyed. ”Let me get some rest first. But it seems Team Rhapsody has another crooked villain to take down.”

Zinnia jumped for joy, swinging her arm around as jolts of electricity flowed through. ”This is going to be so rad. I need to think of something to wish for. This is all so exciting.”

Alton looked down at his hand, whispering to himself. ”Something to wish for? Could THAT really work?”
