Chapter 96 - A Sneaking Tentacle Monster? (1/2)

Darkness had started shrouding the lands.

Due to the Gluttony Monkey’s commendable efforts in hunting the Purple-Eyed Foxes, Zhang Che could only reciprocate accordingly. Using the light provided by the bonfire, he started gutting the corpses, cleaning them.

After a good long while cleaning the Purple-Eyed Fox corpses, Zhang Che still had to look for more firewood to add to the fire and watch over the meat, in case he accidentally burned them. From the looks of it, he wouldn’t get to call it a day for another hour or two.

“Ai, what a lucky guy you are, meeting such a nice owner like me. Where would you find roasted meat to eat, otherwise? You should count yourself lucky if others didn’t roast you instead!” Zhang Che muttered as he worked. Meanwhile, the frisky monkey was looking at the Purple-Eyed Foxes hovering over the fire in anticipation, watching as the golden fats melted into the fire, slowly seeping out of the meat.

By the time all of the Purple-Eyed Foxes were roasted to a golden brown, Zhang Che felt a little hungry again. Well, how could he possibly not be hungry after toiling about for almost two hours?

Thus, the man and pet sat by the bonfire and started digging in.

Of course, Zhang Che’s appetite was far from the Gluttony Monkey’s. He barely ate a kilogram or two worth of roasted meat before feeling bloated, while the frisky monkey finished everything that was left.

There was probably over fifty kilograms worth of meat, and yet this freaking glutton finished it all in one sitting!

Zhang Che looked at the satisfied-looking Gluttony Monkey with his mouth agape. He truly couldn’t understand how was it possible for that scrawny fellow to fit that much roasted meat in his stomach. Could it be that this glutton’s stomach was actually a bottomless pit?

On the other hand, the frisky monkey didn’t mind the stares he was receiving from his master. He finally got a filling meal, and was now lazing around by the bonfire, his eyes half-closed. It was as enjoyable as could be.

Originally, Zhang Che couldn’t be bothered with this glutton. He took out his tent and was about to set it up, when his eyes suddenly turned about, and he waved to the Gluttony Monkey. “Come, come, now watch carefully how I’m going to pitch this tent. This job will be yours from now on.”

The Gluttony Monkey’s mood was immediately ruined, his ugly face drooping down to his shoulders.

When light returned to the lands, Zhang Che came out from his tent, yawning. While walking over to the stream to wash up, he instructed, “Frisky monkey, pack up the tent.”

The Gluttony Monkey, now covered in morning dew, twitched reluctantly and lazily went over to the tent, packing it up as demonstrated by Zhang Che last night.

It had to be mentioned that the fellow’s learning ability was truly outstanding. When Zhang Che returned from washing up, he saw that the tent was already folded, lying on the ground. Although it wasn’t too neat, it was considered properly packed.

Zhang Che was feeling great. He was giving off a radiant smile the whole time while eating his simple breakfast and getting ready to explore deeper into the beast world to hunt exotic beasts.

With this free labor, he immediately felt that life in the beast world wasn’t as tough anymore. Instead, it was filled with fun.

Though, of course it would be even better if he didn’t have to keep roasting meat for this glutton…

“This fellow, why can’t he learn from Hanxue, that good boy? Just look at how obedient he is. Not only does he work without any complaints, he doesn’t even request anything. This is the best kind of laborer, isn’t it?” Zhang Che grumbled as he patted his steed’s neck. The Golden Elephorse King immediately neighed proudly, as if in agreement. -All meat eaters are weirdos! Fresh, verdant leaves are the way to go!-

As they headed west, the group subconsciously avoided the mountain range filled with poisonous beasts. Before they knew it, they had covered dozens of kilometers of ground.

Along the way, three-star exotic beasts were becoming increasingly common. Zhang Che’s backpack became a few three-star cards richer, though it was a pity that there wasn’t a single card that was silver-quality or higher.

After all, silver-quality or higher exotic beasts were still rarely seen. Take the Tian Yin Squad’s Xu Ao, for example; didn’t he only have a four-star silver-quality subdued beast as his trump?
