Chapter 425 - Let her go (1/2)

He rubbed his face and then ran his fingers through his hair. He wished it was a nightmare as well but he knew when she told him yesterday, she was being serious.

She was always serious. It was hard to see her making jokes. No, he has never seen her making a joke before.

She was being blunt like usual. She said what she felt inside and he knew that she knew it would break his heart when she said that. But she did not care. She did not care about his feeling. All she cared about was her boyfriend's feelings. She would do anything for her boyfriend. But not for him.

Who was he actually? Just someone she just met in the university and then became her colleague. Even when their friendship starting to grow closer, as he always dropped by at Angela's house and cooled meals for them, she still kept her distance emotionally.

It was hard to know what she really has in her mind because she would never show nor tell. She just showed him what she allowed him to see. He did not know the real her. He wished he knew. He wished she would let him see underneath all the layers.

But, it seemed like he was not special enough in her heart.

”Tell me you're just having a nightmare, son. Please tell me,” Mrs. Si begged her son. She really liked Catherine and the thought of not having the sweet dear Catherine as her daughter-in-law.

”What are you two doing?” Mr. Si asked his wife and son after he went into his son's room. He was worried when he heard a cry so loud. He recognized the voice. It belonged to his lovely wife and he hated seeing his wife sad. He thought his son was the culprit and was prepared to punish him for making her sad.

He glared at his son suspiciously.

”Husband~” Mrs. Si went to hug her husband sadly.

”What's wrong, baby?” Mrs. Si asked her gently.

”Dear Catherine won't become our daughter-in-law~” Mrs. Si cried sadly. Her poor heart was broken so badly, she started sobbing like there was no day tomorrow.

”Catherine?” Mr. Si looked at his son in a puzzle. Who was she? He knew he heard the name somewhere but he could not remember where.

”Our future daughter-in-law,” Mrs. Si sobbed. She wiped the tears from her cheeks delicately using her finger.

In her husband's doting eyes, she looked so beautiful even when crying.

”I'm not marrying her. I cannot marry her,” Harry muttered.

”What? Why?” Mr. Si asked. He finally remembered who Catherine was. When he got home last time, his lovely wife was gushing for miles and miles about this wonderful woman called Catherine.

”She doesn't love me. She would not love me.”

Mr. Si looked at his wife. The woman his wife really adored did not love their son? What was going on right now?

”I don't understand, hubby. Catherine doesn't seem to hate us. So why can't she join our happy family?” Mrs. Si asked her husband with her wide eyes.

Mr. Si looked at his son questioningly but his son was too heartbroken to care. He sighed and hugged her tightly. Then, he pressed a kiss against her forehead to make her feel better. ”Don't worry, baby. If she is fated with us, she will join us. If her destiny is with someone else, whatever we do will not force her to join us and be happy.”

”but...”

”If you really like her, you should support her. Let her go. We cannot force her feeling to like us. Like you. If you don't love me, do you think you will marry me?”

She pursed her lips.

He did not add more. He knew she needed the time to ponder over this. He kissed her forehead again. ”Now, why don't we go back to our room and I will massage your back?” he suggested with a leer.

”Husband,” she choked out scandalously. Her eyes widened and her cheeks reddened. Did her husband just say that in front of their son? How... how shameless!
