Chapter 174 - Must follow the script (2/2)

”Catherine...” he sighed heavily.

”Jeremy...”

”Our scandal is still new. It's not suitable for you not to be guarded especially-”

”Jeremy, don't worry. No one will bother me,” she cut his words exasperatedly.

”Catherine, you don't seem to understand how serious this matter is.”

”I do understand but I want my life to be normal back.”

He rubbed between his brows in frustration. Was she for real? A normal life? When did she ever be normal? She was a supermodel, for God sake. Whether she liked it or not, her life was not normal, not ever.

”Don't make that face. I know my life is not normal but I try to be as normal as possible,” she cried.

”Then you are in the real world,” he pointed out.

”Of course. Why? You think I'm still dreaming?”

”No,” he chuckled, ”Of course not.”

”Then why are you making that face?”

”I didn't. Stop being so suspicious.”

”Hmph...” she crossed her arms and frowned.

”Stop giving me that look. We're getting closer to the hospital.”

She quickly used her phone to check her face. Her makeup was still okay. She sighed and quickly turned off her phone. She did not want to be disturbed when chatting with Mika.

He just smiled. Luckily the almost argument ended as fast as it started. He blew out a relieved sigh when she no longer talking about it.

”Do you want to buy flowers for Mika?” he asked after they got out of the car. They had to use the back door to enter when the driver realized some reporters were already gathering in front of the entrance of the hospital.

”I don't think so. They would see us if we go to the shop,” she bit her lower lip unhappily. Mika would understand if she came empty-handed but she did not feel good coming without bringing anything.

”Don't worry. They can't do anything to us. Let's go upstairs,” he touched her arm to usher her toward the elevator.

Luckily for them, the hospital's security was quite good. None of the reporters could get inside without permission from the hospital.

”Hmm...”

They walked side by side toward Mika's room. Like usual, Jason was already there, cooing at Mika.

It was getting creepy in Ryn's mind seeing the man looking so fascination toward her best friend. He did not care about his piling work in the office. Ryn had no doubt he ignored everything just to focus on Mika. Every time she came, Jason was already there. Even when they all go home, he was still there, refusing to move anywhere. But Ryn knew he did not sleep there. There was no extra bed or comfortable couch for Jason to lie on. And he would not be able to share the same bed as Mika with all the wires and machines.

”Mika, how are you feeling today,” Ryn asked, taking Mika's hand and stroked it gently.

”I feel better now. How was the conference?” Mika asked. Her voice was stronger now and even her face was a bit pinkish. Hmm...

”It was okay. The lawyer will send the letter to Jennifer,” Ryn shrugged. She did not want to talk about this anymore but it seemed like Mika was interested about it. She sighed a bit.

”Served her right. Suddenly come here and pretend to be good. Even mother finds her crazy,” Mika said with a serious nod.

”Are you serious about bringing this to the court?” Jason asked with a frown. He was asking Jeremy.

”The only way to make her stop. If not, she will create another story and her fans will believe her.” Jeremy shrugged.

”Do I have to go to the court?” Ryn asked, finally remembering that the lawyer even mentioned her name as one of his clients.

”Don't worry. Everything will be alright.” Jeremy comforted Ryn.

”Believe in Jeremy, Ryn. Everything will be alright,” Mika seconded. She believed her brother could settle everything. Of course, she did not expect him to go this way but thinking about this, if her brother only gave the statement during the press conference, that crazy Jennifer could spin his words and make herself the victim in this situation. Mika was getting fed up with this crazy Jennifer's attic. No doubt Jeremy was too.

”Poor Ryn,” thought Mika silently. Ryn did not do anything at all but being accused of having bad feeling toward Jeremy by that evil woman.

”What is your plan after this?” Mika asked after she was done cursing Jennifer mentally.

”Study and work, obviously. Tomorrow I have classes back to back,” Ryn sighed sadly at the thought.

”When is your final exam?” Jason asked suddenly.

He knew his fiancee could not wait for Ryn to be done with her study. Once Ryn graduated, Mika would lure Ryn to work with her at the company. Of course, one of them would stop Ryn with her modelling career but as Mika grumbled for a few times, modelling has a limit of age. Ryn needed to have another income setting for her future.

Everyone looked at Jason. Mika gave him a grateful look. Jeremy cocked an eyebrow. While Ryn, well, her lips twitched as his question. Obviously the question was for the sake of Mika. Jason did not care about anything else but Mika's happiness. He would do anything for his beloved woman.

”A few more weeks,” she replied, holding her laughter when Mika pursed her lips unhappily. ”Come on, don't worry about my exam. I believe in my brainpower.”

”You, my dear,” she changed the topic to Mika, ”When are you going to get discharged. You look better now. Recuperate at home is better than here.”

”I know,” Mika grumbled, ”But that old doctor said I have to stay here for at least another week.”

”So you better start resting and don't worry about anything else. Rest and follow whatever the doctor tells you to do so you can leave this place as quickly as possible.” Jeremy quipped after being silent the whole time.

”I am resting. Luckily my Jason is here or I will be bored to tears,” Mika wailed.

Jason quickly hugged Mika as the best as he could while glaring at Jeremy and Ryn for making Mika sad.

Jeremy snorted while Ryn shook her head in bemused. Without the elders, their conversations were more chill and laid back. They exchanged jokes and stories before Jeremy followed the doctor to his office to hear Mika's latest condition.

It was, in Ryn's opinion, a better day than she thought it would be yesterday. Nothing would go wrong now.
