Chapter 5.1 - Wake Up, Male Lead (2/2)

“…”

So that was why the evil female supporting role died such a tragic death?!

Lin Qiu gave a sigh and asked him again. “So do you like me?”

Wei Liang threw her a strange look in reply. “What counts as ‘like’?”

Lin Qiu racked her brain, realizing that she, too, did not know what liking someone meant. Even if the books did say that Wei Liang and Lin Qing Yin were fond of each other, but—forgive Lin Qiu of her harsh words—Ling Qiu couldn’t see what Wei Liang found special in Liu Qin Ying.

Wei Liang remained silent  for a moment, and he raised his hand and softly caressed Lin Qiu’s head once more.

He got up, and took out a white robe to wear, then sat down on the side of the bed and gathered all his black hair to tie it up.

“Master,” Liu Qing Yin’s voice echoed from outside of the door, “the head of the Dong Ting’s Qing Yin sect is here with his mother. They want to see you, Master.

Lin Qiu quickly noticed that Liu Qing Yin’s voice was hoarse, as if she had been crying.

“Very well.” Wei Liang slowly opened the wooden door, and a chilly draft spiralled into the room. He looked even more steadfast in his white robe in the morning mist.

Lin Qiu quickly freshened herself up and followed Wei Liang to the main hall that used to welcome guests in the sect.

The moment they stepped into the door, Lin Qiu spotted a woman like a tiny kitten charging straight at them, the woman’s hands clawed onto her wrists like a pair of chicken feet, and she began to sob heavily.

“My daughter, what a pity that you’re still being filial to your father, and married over to become someone’s wife!” the woman cried. “Your mother knows that you feel guilty, right! Is my son-in-law treating you well? Did he bully you? If he did bully you, everyone in the world will curse him and drown him in their saliva! Your father wouldn’t have died of such a young age if he didn’t save him! Wu… My pitiful husband! Leaving the both of us behind just like that…”

Lin Qiu calmly looked at the woman before her, but she couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. She turned her head towards a young man in the room of about 17 or eighteen years of age, whose nose was turned up arrogantly. He somewhat resembled her, and with a single glance it was easy to tell that this young man was Lin Qiu’s little brother, Lin Dong.

Lin Qiu’s heart filled with coldness.

“Son-In-Law!” Zheng Zi Yu cried, and she pushed Lin Qiu aside and pounced on Wei Liang.“Son-In-Law! Your apprentice is so outrageous! I’m not just talking about the fact that she doesn’t respect me, but she insulted me! I’m an elderly! You need to punish her!”

Lin Qiu titled her head, and the face of Wei Liang’s apprentice that she had met last night turned bright red. His nostrils puffed up in anger, but after bowing at Wei Liang, he angrily stood aside.

Wei Liang lowered his gaze slightly, and he shook his sleeves in a rather imposing and cold manner. Zheng Zi Yu almost got a hold of Wei Liang’s hands, and she took two steps back and pointed straight at Wei Liang’s apprentice standing at the side.

“If it wasn’t for my husband’s sacrifice, will the Thousand Divine Sword Sect be what it is today?” she complained. “Why didn’t the apprentice realize this?! This ungrateful swine! I’m only slightly weaker by about 200 years of cultivation skills, so how dare he reject me for such a small request! Why would there be people like this? So outrageous!”
