Chapter 5.1 - Wake Up, Male Lead (1/2)
The colourful dripstones were swept clean, the room was only dimly lit. Wei Liang’s eyes smiled as he took Lin Qiu out from the gypsum bit by bit. A few ripples formed in the fountain, and Lin Qiu looked down, using the water as a mirror to look at herself.
Wei Liang had already removed the cloth from her face, and she realized that she looked like a century egg after peeling off its thick shell, her skin soft and glistening.
Her reflection in the water looked ethereally beautiful in the dim light. Her character originally had an evil but beautiful face, but she was always burning the midnight oil because of her job. She worked restlessly like an animal all year long, and even when she scraped together some time to rest, her dull and lifeless gaze always had a hint of tension, like a lazy cat ready to spring at a sudden situation. It was difficult to describe a face as beautiful as this, but it was one of a kind, and hard for one to forget.
Wei Liang couldn’t be addicted to her beauty, right?
Lin Qiu couldn’t resist herself and decided to ask him straightforwardly. “Why are you helping me?”
Wei Liang peeled away a piece of crystal from the back of her neck. He then reached into her collar, gave it a shake, causing numerous fragments to slide out from her robe and fall into the fountain. His fingers withdrew from her, but not before sliding through her sharply defined collarbone, making Lin Qiu shudder a few times.
He took her wrist once more and they walked out.
“Since you’re a small basic level cultivator, you won’t do much to help strengthen my powers. After evolving through the spiritual dripstones, you’re slightly more useful now,” he said in a casual voice.
“…”
She threw a frightened glance at Wei Liang’s side profile. The dim dripstones made his eyes look like dazzling stars in the night sky.
In turn, he looked at her from the corner of his eyes and slightly raised his eyebrows. “You believe me?” he asked.
Lin Qiu was devastated. “Whatever my fate is, you can do whatever you want with it. I do have to remind you that if we really become real husband and wife, it will deeply prick into the female lead’s heart like a thorn, and it will deeply affect the relationship between you two!”
Wei Liang’s footsteps halted. His smiling eyes covered up his slightly cold tone as he spoke. “Female lead? What is that?”
Lin Qiu was about to reply, but then she saw shining lights approaching them from afar. They were the reinforcements of the Wang family.
Wei Liang hugged her waist, took a few steps forward, then entered through the barrier back into the forest, passing by one team of highly skilled cultivators. When there was no longer anyone around them, he summoned his flying sword and they flew back to his Thousand Divine Swords Sect before dawn.
At the door, Wei Liang removed his robe and face cloth and tossed it into the fire pit. Lin Qiu followed suit.
A flame was dancing in Wei Liang’s black pupils, and he casually spoke again. “What is a female lead?”
Fortunately, Lin Qiu had thought of an answer on the way back. “Naturally, it’s the female boss of the Thousand Divine Swords Sect.”
“Oh?” Wei Liang tilted his head to the side, his long and cold eyes fixated on her. “Isn’t that you?” He raised one of his hands, and softly caressed the side of Lin Qiu’s face. “This is my first time getting married,” he said. “It’s so troublesome, I don’t think there’s going to be a next time.”
After some thought, he added, “Unless you died.”
