I believe the rain is similar to the refrigerant, it has a saturation temperature which is below the normal atmospheric Temperature meaning after the rain the temperature of the atmosphere went back to normal so the rain went back to saturation temp and then turned into a gas and evaporated after the atmosphere returned to normal.
