Chapter 64 - Good morning, Wife (1/2)
No wonder Jasper Mo was still trying to win her over again, but would Hero allow him to snatch his wife from him? Of course not, he'd make sure that this woman would eventually fall in love with him until no more space was left for Jasper Mo to conquer.
As his gaze roamed over her, Hero concluded that he would have laughed if someone told him that he'd remarry. He would even laugh harder if they told him he'd have a one-night stand with her before marriage, knocking her up.
After his first wife's death and Little Amber's birth, Hero didn't think there would be a day that he would remarry.
Shaking his head slightly, Hero tore his gaze away from her to the window where the moonlight was struggling to get past through. Giving his wife a last glance before shutting his eyes, he wondered briefly if they could get out of their contractual marriage and truly live as husband and wife in all aspects.
The day was Saturday, and the warm sunlight that drifted through the same curtains the moonlight kissed last night woke Little Amber before Luna did. Little Amber squirmed as she tried to get out from her Mommy's arm that lay across her but froze when she felt another person lying on the bed.
Turning her head next to her, she saw her father crack an eye open and glare back at her with the same intensity she was throwing at him. Silently, Hero was telling her to be still and not to wake up Luna before closing his eyes again to rest his eyes.
The woman in question sighed softly on her sleep and pulled Little Amber closer as she shifted on the bed, not aware of the cold war between her husband and stepdaughter.
An hour later, Luna's eyes opened slowly; and she smiled sleepily as she snuggled into the warmth that surrounded her. Sighing softly, she pressed herself against the source of the warmth and felt the arm around her tighten.
Her eyes shot open, and Luna stifled a gasp as her gaze met with her husband's.
”Good morning, Wife. Did you sleep well last night?” he asked.
Her mind froze as she realized that she was pressed against his body, and he had wrapped an arm around her as though he was trying to keep her there. It took her a moment to realize that Little Amber who had clung to her for most of the night was not present.
Luna fought hard the blush that crept on to her face, but it was too late for her to hide it as Hero had already seen it.
Amused, Hero pitied her and released her from his hold as she moved out of her bed.
”Where's Amber?” she asked Hero, trying to divert her focus away from this delicious man who was currently tempting her.
Luna halted at that. What? Delicious? What the hell was wrong with her brain, ah? Why did she suddenly think that Hero was quite charming and delectable looking as he lay on her bed?
Luna chastised and slapped herself mentally.
