Yue Wan clenched her fists and lifted her head to look at Elder Xiao. ”I wasn't sure about that.”
”Not sure!” Elder Xiao did not believe her: ”If you are not sure then you wouldn't come to the Main Villa of the Xiao family with the well-prepared evidence.”
”I know that Mrs. Jing will definitely try everything to ruin me. She is insidious and unpredictable. And I can't let my father be accountable for any issues, so I took matters into my own hands.” Yue Wan replied courteously with a smile.
Elder Xiao couldn't find any fault with her words, yet he felt something off as if there was a catch somewhere: ”Why didn't you expose this to the police or in the media to clear your name?”
”If I used it to clear my name then Jing's reputation will be tarnished a lot in the media. At that moment, Mrs. Jing will fight back shamelessly and create a rumor that the Yue family was waging a war against the Xiao family. It would then cause a rift between the two families both in the public and through the military. The expression on his face darkened as those past images filled his mind. He couldn't accept that he missed the crucial issue right away. The one thing he regretted the most was not able to keep his one promise.
”Master Xiao, is there any other matter?” If there was none, Yue Wan wished to leave.
”Yes.” Elder Xiao's face hardened, as he expressed his thought after careful analysis, ”I want you to do this. Also, I believe your grandfather wishes the same.”
