Chapter 25 - A FIANCE FELL FROM HEAVEN (1/2)

Not putting much thought on his words, she stated, ”Okay. It's not difficult to hand her this but getting her to agree to attend would be another story.”

If truth be told, Luo Jingyi didn't like the idea of hobnobbing with the rich. The people Dr. Luo associates with can only be counted on the fingers of one hand unless she personally knows the family.

”That's why I came to you. Because you know what to do. At the same time, Miss Ji knows how I deal with failure.” The man tipped off, giving her strong eye contact.

”Are you threatening me?”

”No.” He said with a dangerous smile before adding, ”But I have your brother on speed dial.”

Ji Min pressed her lips together. It's been 6 years since she left the Ji family and she has no plans of returning anytime soon. One word to her brother and he would come running to her direction. That's the last thing she ever wanted. She rubbed the back of her neck and with a heavy sigh, she let out a soft, ”Fine.”

It meant she will have to convince Luo Jingyi to go to the banquet. But before that, Ji Min has to know the truth.

”Considering that you and my brother have a history, I hope you can answer my questions truthfully.”

”Okay.” The man agreed.

”Are you perhaps interested in her just to ward off your blind dates?” Although she doesn't mingle much with the people she used to know, she heard rumors that Grandma Shen has been setting him up with women.

With no preamble at all, the man admitted, ”I am chasing her with the intention of marriage.”

Marriage?!

Unable to suppress it, Ji Min chortled as if she heard the funniest joke in her life. In fact, a man falling for Luo Jingyi isn't a surprise as Dr. Luo is a beauty with brains. On top of that, she's really a talented doctor. However, Luo Jingyi is unlike other women who would kneel at Yun Jinghan's feet. Knowing Luo Jingyi's perspective towards the opposite sex, she rather finds it amusing as it would pose challenges. It's as daunting as plucking the stars and the moon from the sky. Some tried but nobody could melt Jingyi's heart. Even to Ji Min, it took her years to earn the other woman's trust.

Getting a glimpse of the man's seriousness, Ji Min stopped and wiped the liquid that was at the corner of her eyes as a result of laughing so hard. The next second, Ji Min faced the man with her usual calm demeanor.

”I didn't mean that. I just thought your words are humorous. I hope you are ready for what you are signing up for.” Ji Min warned and stood before she added cheerfully, ”I'll see what I can do. Good luck on your quest. Send me a wedding invitation if you succeeded.”

Hence, Ji Min used the word 'grandmother' to compel Luo Jingyi as the latter has a soft spot for elderly people.

Convinced of the other woman's words, Luo Jingyi disregarded her apprehension in attending social events and decided to go. She bagged the invitation, ascertaining where she placed it.

”By the way, your request about Dr. Feng—” Ji Min was referring to Blue girl who Luo Jingyi requested for her transfer to Medlife.

”I am not changing my mind on that.” Her decision was resolute. Luo Jingyi has reasons for bringing her there. Although she trusts Ji Min, it's not yet time to divulge that.

Ji Min had no choice but to concede. ”Alright then.”

Luo Jingyi put on her hospital coat and accompanied Ji Min out. She still has things to do. It's her last day, but it didn't mean she's going to slack off.

More than an hour later, she completed her rounds to the ICU with Dr. Lin and the other trauma attending. Luo Jingyi turned over all her caseloads to the latter.

While she was updating a patient's case in the computer at the nurses station, she heard someone call her out. Turning her head, she saw Aunt Alice. Luo Jingyi beamed with a smile.

”Aunt Alice, I apologize for running away last time but there was an emergency so I didn't inform everyone before leaving.” Luo Jingyi explained quickly, not mentioning about being kidnapped when she was at the deck. Luo Jingyi has no desire of making Aunt Alice make a big fuss about it.

The woman who seemed upset reproached her, ”I understand what you do my dear. But next time, you have to inform me because I'll be uneasy. What if something happens to you?”
