Chapter 24 - INTERESTED IN HER (1/2)
”Have you eaten? I'm planning to go grab something from the cafeteria. Want to join me?”
”I'm not hungry.” Luo Jingyi put down the last book in the box. Ji Min's observant eyes realized that all Luo Jingyi collected for the last 3 years were books and medical journals. There's not a personal bauble at all. She'd never been to Luo Jingyi's apartment but she reckoned, it would be as cold as her personality.
”Here. Take this.” Ji Min placed a silver envelope on top of the box.
”What's this?”
Seeing that Luo Jingyi didn't even glance at it, Ji Min informed, ”It's an invitation from Chairman Shen's birthday banquet.”
At the same time, Ji Min walked to the fridge, opened it and like a hungry coyote, scavenge for something to eat which made Luo Jingyi's brows furrowed.
'Why do these people think that my fridge is some kind of food shop?'
”Hmm. You ought to give me the recipe for this. The taste is really to die for.” Ji Min murmured in delight after taking a bite of the brownie which Luo Jingyi left for herself, after giving a box to Xu Wei.
Shaking her head, Luo Jingyi answered, ”Go search the net.”
She picked the envelope and looked at Ji Min with questioning eyes.
”Do you remember a patient named Yun Jian? Or do I need to remind you what his case number was?” Ji Min put forth. Luo Jingyi is bad at remembering names of people but she can memorize case file numbers with no problem.
”No need.” Luo Jingyi remembered him. There are patients who will be etched in her heart and there are also a few which would be forgotten. But he was the former because while she was operating on him, she was reminded of how fragile life is.
”Did you know who his great-grandmother is?”
'What does it have to do with me?' She murmured with disinterest. In her past life, she always kept herself abreast of who's who. It was very important to know who was the richest, who was the most powerful or who was the Emperor's latest flame. But after coming to this world, she no longer cared. As long as they don't stand in her way, the rich has nothing to do with her.
”His great-grandmother is Chairman Shen of Shen Food Corporation.” Ji Min offered the information as though Luo Jingyi has no idea who they were. Perhaps because none of the Shen Family members appeared much in the limelight, except the Vice-President Tang's wife.
Luo Jingyi thought of something. The Shen Family is one of the wealthiest and most prominent families in the country. Luo Jingyi's paternal family, the Han's are wealthy however, the Shen Family who belongs to the top 8 families are on a different level. If the Han's are on the stratosphere, the top 8 would be on the exosphere.
”So, the Shen matriarch donated $50 million to our new program.”
”However, there's a catch. What is it?” Luo Jingyi asked. Wealthy people donating to the hospital is normal but sometimes, they have weird requests.
”Nothing. Chairman Shen just wants to meet you. So she's inviting you to her birthday banquet. That's what the invitation for.”
