Chapter 419 - None of this was your fault (2/2)
Lyn backs away from his embrace and laughs lightly. ”I'm sorry for showing you a disgraceful side of me once again.”
”It's not disgraceful. Your tears are quite beautiful.”
”Is that a fetish?”
”Take it as you will. If I have any fetishes though, they will be revealed privately.”
”Pri--” she pauses when she realized what he was saying. Her entire face turned red. ”You tricked me!”
”It's because I suddenly realised that I hadn't played with you in awhile.”
She's speechless. Lyn almost forgot they were amid the battle field. She uses the word almost because Rhys suddenly slumped into her arms. Crimson blood soaked through her own clothes as his body made contact with her's. Lyn's eyes widened when she saw how quickly he was losing blood.
”R--Rhys..”
”Damn,” he cursed. ”Sorry Lyn, it's hard to hold up.”
No.... Rhys brushed his hands across her cheeks. The coldness of his skin made her frightened. He's so cold, he's losing that much blood? ”Lyn, please don't cry. I can't do anything to you right now.”
Lyn struggled to hold back her tears, but she knew it wouldn't help. ”I'll fight with you.”
She wanted to tell him that she could handle this alone. However, Rhys wouldn't have that. She needs to watch over his condition, they will be fine right?
Lyn regretted that thought a few seconds later, when the enemy surrounded them. There were certainly a lot of them, Lyn didn't think there would be this many.
In her lost memories, Lyn recalled many sensations - and experiencing many things. A situation like this happened before. But even back then she wasn't alone.
Ever since Lyn realized she lost her memories when she was younger. She started to appreciate looking at the ocean. Looking at the sky, looking at the snow. Watching the stars, going to town. These everyday things - it felt like before she watched it with someone dear to her. Somebody very important.
Whenever Lyn thought of it, it made her very happy to the point where tears would fall from her eyes. Whatever she saw or touched, everything reminded her of that person. Her heart naturally gets drawn into these things....
”Lyn, don't loose focus!” Rhys said, snapping her out of her thoughts.
Lyn turned to the being in front of her, how on earth did this thing get here? No, it's familiar. She recalled how a few nights back when she was taking a walk. She saw this being -- Lyn knew this was a bad sign. She had been fighting it so well so how come it ended up like this? After hearing that blood howling scream she suddenly lost her energy completely.
She didn't have much of a choice, she would have to use her remaining strength. There is no time to fret about it, at this rate Rhys will die. She can't bare for that to happen. Lyn took a deep breath, it should be okay.
”Lyn, wait don't…” Rhys said.
”It'll be fine,” But she doubted own words, as a huge glow wrapped around her. ”Kai.” It was only a theory and she had yet to truly test out this power. However, she read the ancient scripter. If it's like what the book says, then this single command should be enough.
After she mumbled those three letters, a pair of elegant and scarlet-gold wings protruded from her back. 'Ah...it worked...' The problem is, will everything go as the book said? Lyn knew this form required a lot of strength to maintain. With her current condition, she won't last long. So she needs to handle this swiftly.
