Chapter 288 - Odd Tradition (2/2)

But, since then he has changed quite a bit. Is it because of her?

”Rhys…”

”Hey, what will it take for you to change your mind? Do you know how badly I want you every day? I want to hold you in my arms and call your name out. I want to feel your bare body pressed against mine, to hear and see the different sounds you make. I want to know everything about you, Lyn…”

T—this… Uh...he's… Lyn didn't know what to say anymore. Why is this person like this? ”Is it so hard to fall in love with me? Don't I treat you well enough?”

”You're very good to me,” the words came out before she could think it through.

She found Rhys looking her up and down, ”I know you like me. But that like isn't enough to beat Kazuya.”

”Wait; what? What do you mean you know I like you?”

”Isn't it obvious?”

”What obvious!!”

”Then are you denying it?”

”Yes!”

Rhys wasn't happy about this and backed her against the wall again. It was the same as yesterday, and yet today there was no dark gaze hovering in his eyes. Lyn learned of his pain… his suffering, that's why… This seems slightly different. Rhys closed the remaining distance between them, and his lips were on hers in second. It felt strange to her, and nobody has treated her this way before.

”Rhys...unn.”

Rhys lips curve to a smile, ”You like it.” That's definitely not it; she just wants to tell him this is weird. Before Lyn could say a word, she spotted Abeno at the doorway.

”Pardon me for disturbing…”

…..

”Rumors float around saying you're acting in a promiscuous behavior towards men…” Abeno commented. After being caught in that state, Lyn was very embarrassed.

Lyn frantically shook her head, ”Didn't you see there? I was about to be harassed..”

Rhys pressed his hand on his cheek, which was now swelling up. She didn't mean to pack a punch using magic. It just happened instinctively, more like a late reaction. He wasn't happy at all, but Lyn wasn't going to comfort him this time. ”What did you speak to Allen about?”

”You.”

Gah…. She could picture it now, these two having fun talking about her. ”Junlan church is siding with the Sound Kingdom?”

”Do not get us, wrong Princess. We do not wish to see Queen Orthez downfall. Junlan church aims for peace, and what's best for the people.”

”I know,” Lyn nodded. ”Even if my mother is a good ruler. Everything fell apart when she shouldered all of her first husband's crimes. If mother had fought against him, people would see her in a more favorable light now. But instead she chose to support him.”

Mother had the foundations to become a ruler that is loved by the masses. But instead, she chose this painful path. Lyn couldn't understand what was going on in her mother's mind at all. If she could understand, would she be able to prevent herself from making the wrong decision?
