Chapter 286 - Fragile (2/2)
Should she pretend to sleep? But, she wants to see Kazuya. Lyn recalled what Rhys did to her earlier and immediately reached out for the cup of water on the table. How many times does this make it already? She is so stupid. Drinking water won't help. The trace and sensation of his lips and warmth still linger. She needs Kazuya.
Lyn didn't wait for them to open the door; she left the bed despite feeling bad. Lyn used the walls to steady her balance, but as one would expect, it was difficult. So, when Kazuya and Pupillam came inside, she was on the ground.
The person who picked her up, however, wasn't Kazuya but Rhys. It seemed like he was there too. ”What are you doing?”
”Oh….I...um Kazuya,” Lyn answered dumbly.
Rhys sighed, ”He's right here; you could have waited.”
”Hey quit scolding her, she's already sick enough.”
”Yeah, yeah,” Rhys walked her back over to the bed and Lyn peered over at Kazuya's face. Is he mad? Or maybe...he's sick and tired of her too? She is such a troublesome person to deal with.
Rhys carefully laid her down on the bed and adjusted the pillows and blankets.
Lyn extended her hands out but drew them back. She shouldn't do anything stupid. Kazuya who had patiently been waiting finally spoke up. ”Lyn, are you alright?”
It was the first time she got a proper look at him since last night. He seemed worn out.”Pupillam bullied you?” It wasn't a question; she was merely stating the facts.
”Wh—wh! I did no such thing.”
Kazuya sobbed, ”Right, she is such a bully. Giving me all her work.”
”You!!”
Lyn laughed; these two are funny. Kazuya's arms wrapped around her, ”Anyhow, your demon aide kept me away from you. Sorry, Lyn, I wanted to come sooner. Are you okay, did you miss me?”
”I missed you, I wanted to see you---” Lyn immediately realized something. ”Wait, Kazuya, why are you here? What about your work in the next town?”
Weren't they supposed to departure in the morning? It's already afternoon; she didn't think he would still be here. ”I gave the job to your eldest brother.”
”Eh, uh?” she looked at him puzzled.
”Your brother wants to know what is going on in that territory. But he didn't have the jurisdiction to go, however now he does.”
”I see…”
Why would Kazuya do that? When she spoke to him the other day, he looked so serious talking about his dream. Did he give it up for her sake?
”He did something stupid, so I assigned him work to do. He couldn't possibly take care of you all morning, Princess, he would disturb your rest,” Pupillam explained.
But Rhys took care of her, right?
Her thoughts broke off when Kazuya brushed his forehead against hers. ”You still seem a bit hot. Rhys, get her some medicine.”
”She has to eat first.”
”I got that covered; they should bring the food soon.”
Did Kazuya cook for her again? Lyn looked over at Kazuya who beamed. ”I cooked for you.”
”I'm really hungry.”
Kazuya laughed, ”I know, you'll get your food soon.”
Lyn didn't realize how hungry she was until Kazuya said it. All morning Rhys didn't give her food, then again the food was probably the last thing on his mind since she was crying and having a breakdown. Now that she thought about it, 'That was embarrassing.' Why did she lash out at him like that? It's true what happened last night upset her. But she ought to refrain from taking things too far. Rhys isn't her boyfriend, so she should maintain a degree of distance between them.
