Chapter 264 - Are you doing this on purpose? (1/2)
Rhys shook his head, ”This is Lyn were talking about. I doubt she is overwhelmed; it's probably the complete opposite.”
”Huh?”
Before Rhys could say a word, a pair of dainty arms wrapped around Kazuya's back. Lyn beamed happily, ”Kazuya, I caught you.”
Kazuya's serious gaze softened. ”Yeah,” he turned around. ”Mmm, your hair is still wet. dry it.”
”Kazuya you do it for me.”
'She's definitely a princess, alright.' ”Lyn, sit down. Let me check your temperature.”
Lyn looked over at him and peered with those cute eyes, ”Rhys?”
”Yeah?”
She leaves Kazuya's side and walked over. She kept staring at him, and Rhys felt very uncomfortable. ”There is something different about you.”
'Sharp.'
”Nothing is different; just sit back down.”
”Okay,” but Lyn reached over and touched his cheek.
”Lyn, let go.”
”I just want to check…”
Rhys liked the feeling of the girl's hand on his skin, but he felt Kazuya's mood drop. He removed it immediately and stood up to get some supplies from his medical cabinet. As he rummaged through the draws, he caught a glimpse of the two from the mirror. Kazuya had walked over to Lyn and was hugging her tightly, even giving her kisses on her cheek.
The girl looked absolutely clueless and delighted. ”Kazuya, that tickles.”
”Are you sure your okay, you worry me.”
”I'm fine, don't worry.”
….
After the two left, Rhys sat there on the window ledge. He could still see them from here hand in hand, Lyn smiling brightly. 'This is harder than he thought it would be.' Rhys thought he was doing a great job avoiding her, but it turned out that wasn't the case. If only he could do something to distract himself. He recalled Mikoto's advice and sighed. He really isn't the mood for it. Rhys tried for the past few weeks, but it just didn't work out. He can't return to how things were before.
His thoughts broke off when he hears the sound of his door opened. Beth came inside with a massive pile of doc.u.ments. ”Prince Andrew said this was all for you to look at.”
That stupid first Prince. He must have heard of the theater group performance. Why is he giving him extra work? Rhys shook his head, don't complain. He walked over and took it from Beth's hands before placing it on the table.
”Well, I must go.”
Rhys grabbed hold of her wrist, ”Beth, are you busy?”
”N--no, I'm not.”
”Stay.” The two of them both knew what that meant.
”Did she just leave?”
”Yeah.”
Beth wrapped her arms around his neck. It was familiar, and yet already, Rhys was starting to forget it. The woman's scent. ”Then, I'll keep you company, Rhys. You're lonely, aren't you?”
Lonely? Is that the right word to use whenever she leaves his side?
…
”Rhys, are you leaving?” Beth called out.
Rhys said nothing and slipped on his robe. Beth reached out, ”Wait, don't leave Rhys. Stay with me.. Please.”
Why is she acting so clingy? She's not normally like this. Rhys removed her hands from his waist. ”I have work to do; you know that. Don't make things difficult, okay?” He didn't want to be too harsh with her.
”I know,” Beth looked down. ”But lately you haven't asked for me.”
”I've seen others.”
”Those girls, you only hung out with them. I know you didn't sleep with them.”
Rhys said nothing more and marched out of the room. He did not have time to deal with this.
To his surprise, he found Lyn standing there outside, ”What are you doing here?”
”U--Um...I…” she seemed nervous, and Rhys understood why. Did she overhear?
”Is there something else?”
”Um my leg,” Lyn mumbled.
Her leg? He glanced down and saw the blood and sighed. ”You tripped after all.”
Lyn blushed, ”I'm sorry… I shouldn't have come back..”
Rhys sighed and
”Rh-”
He kissed behind her earlobe and murmured. ”You don't have to be jealous.”
”I-- I'm not…”
”Come with me for a bit. I'll heal your wounds.”
”Rhys, I--...”
Rhys grabbed hold of her hand and pulled her along, ”Just come with me, Lyn.” He didn't wait for a response from her and dragged her down the hallway.
”Rhys…”
”Lyn,” he mumbled against her ear. ”Stay still. I want to hug you like this.”
”Say,” Lyn trailed off. ”Are you okay?”
Is he? He doesn't understand anymore. Rhys thought he already knew what he wanted. He thought he was satisfied already. No, Rhys understands that these feelings won't disappear until he gets Lyn. Until he has her, he will be distressed like this every single day.
