Chapter 211 - Just like glass (1/2)
Study, 11:00 am
”Don't you think he's unreasonable?” Lyn exclaimed, as she sat down on the couch and dropped Allen's belongings onto the table.
”Don't get worked up; you'll harm your body.”
'Everybody treats you just like glass...' Reiji's words echoed in her head, and Lyn buried her face into the pillow. Allen stood up and walked over; he reached over and caressed her hair.
”Do not fret too much my dear; we won't stay here long. I'm almost done with the King's favor once I've finished, they cannot make us stay here.”
”Ah-huh,” Lyn nodded, ”What are you doing now? Can I help you?”
”You get some rest; I shall be fine alone.”
This is what she hates about Kazuya and Allen; they don't let her get too involved with work. At least Rhys would wait what is she thinking. That pervert shouldn't even come to mind at all. Lyn rolled on the couch, and Allen took out a quilt and wrapped it around her.
”Rest for now; I shall bring you to a more comfortable place later.”
Lyn nodded and closed her eyes.
....
Cross Lounge 1:00 pm
' You're not the type to openly show dislike for someone else. You seem more like the type to try to spread happiness. …By scaring me, you probably felt that you could create some sort of happiness. That is what I really want to believe. I think it's really mysterious. .'
Lyn sat on a stool. The atmosphere of this high-class place made her feel uncomfortable. Wasn't this supposed to be a private Library? How come it is so crowded? Many individuals were here; it was more like a lounge than a library with the vending machines and cafeteria. But that didn't bother her too much.
Lyn sighed as she gazed off into the distance and picked up the cup of hot chocolate and drank the contents. Lyn pulled a face, 'Too bitter,' she thought. The ones Kazuya made for her were a lot better.
”Maybe I should go back,” Lyn mumbled. It's not like there are no books on the normal side of the mansion. Allen has a lot with him too; however, Lyn really didn't want to bother him anymore.
Her mentor suddenly sent her a letter and told her to complete this assignment, to be handed in a week later. Although there was still time to do it, the question was close to impossible for her, who had only recently started to read this material. That man is truly spartan at times. Then again, eldest brother would be worse. She supposes it wasn't too bad; Lyn needed something to do.
While she could simply help Allen, Lyn didn't want to disturb him too much. So she asked Princess Eva if they had a library or a nearby one. Thankfully, they had a private library in the residence; otherwise, she would have had to go outside.
All the reference material were professional. If Lyn wanted to understand them, she would have to have a large repertoire of vocabulary. It's not like she's been wasting time idle these last few years, and her knowledge isn't as bad as people made it out to be. However, whether it was on par with the current times, Lyn isn't sure.
Indeed, for the last few minutes, Lyn had been pulling out different books from the shelves, only to put them back again because of the complication involved.
”My basic knowledge is fine, but these numbers,” Lyn trailed off. Math was not her strong suit, and these equations were giving her a headache. This isn't one of those tasks that she could just brush aside with coming up with something.
Lyn took out more and more books until it piled up.
”Aah, really...” She knew that by reading the letter, she'd forget about the report she needed to write...But it still made her feel tired. Even so, his scent…it still filled this scarf. Kazuya, she wants to be with him all the time. But lately, Lyn understood that things aren't that simple.
Her thoughts broke off when she hears familiar laughter, Lyn looked up and saw a certain blonde-haired boy sat on the seat opposite her. The sixth knight, huh? Lyn didn't know what to think of him. However, when Reiji was saying all that stuff to her, he didn't say a word and simply watched. It almost seemed like he was smiling.
