Chapter 172 - Intentions (1/2)

The talk with Prince Zenith was ended rather abruptly, or rather it felt like the entire time somebody had been watching them.

Kazuya is too sly.

From what she vaguely remembered about their past. She always made that comment when then no even longer back when they were fighting side by side each other. But recently that word always comes to mind. He's too sly..saying that he loves her before he disappears somewhere. No matter how many times Lyn hears it, her heart feels like it's about to burst out of her chest. So sly, saying words like that - even if she doesn't want to, she will be dragged into his pace just like that.

Lyn could feel her cheeks up, it's embarrassing. She's already sixteen years old, and yet such a thing still makes her feel embarrassed. Just hearing the words ' I love you' from Kazuya makes her heartbeat in more ways than one.

He says it a lot these days, or rather she can't even remember a day now where he doesn't say it. Lyn shook her head, now is not the time to be thinking of such things.

”You know, it always feels like your running straight ahead without looking back,” Kazuya brought up, breaking her thoughts.

Why is he bringing up something so random, does he not realize what she

”Looking straight ahead?” Lyn asked. The two of them were waiting patiently since mentor since he would speak with Prince Zenith next. A deep sigh escaped her lips, that man really likes leaving her waiting. How many times has he done this? Made her wait.

”Yeah,” Kazuya squeezed her hands, ”Do you have a dream, Lyn? Something you want to do in the future? You don't desire the throne, right?”

Ah, that tone. He's just making sure. If she said she desired the throne, then he would surely be put in a bad situation.

Lyn shook her head, ”It's not the throne I desire, but the happiness and lively hood of the people. The Empire has to change,” she paused, ”For the longest time I thought this way, the Empire cannot go on this way. But it was only the past two years where I started to think of this matter in grave detail.”

”The past two years?”

”Mother's rule has become unstable. I've lost track of the number of people trying to assassinate her every day. She doesn't even let father prepare her meals, and the General is very carefully whenever he makes Mother food. He uses his own handcraft equipment, and even the tools he made - materials are his own. Such a degree of caution is too much.”

”What are you trying to get at?”

”The assassin is at the palace; the person who wants to take Mother down is living under her roof.”

Kazuya didn't reply right away, and for a moment, Lyn hesitated. Is it truly fine to speak to him about these things?

”Lyn, you've thought about this, huh?”

”Of course I have,” she trailed off when she saw his expression, ”Is it bad?”

”No, just a bit hard to believe. Your mother hasn't treated you very well. Since your birth, you were locked up, and only given restricted freedom and access to knowledge. I thought you would bear a grudge.”

”I suppose most people would. But not me,” Lyn admitted.
