Chapter 161 - The One (1/2)

Lyn only walked a few steps when she felt somebody wrap their cloak around her, ”Allen?”

”I figured I'd help you pick a dress,” he turned coldly to the men on the ground, ”And yet you got attacked. I'm sorry.”

”Don't mind it,” Lyn murmured. After what happened with Prince Ereland, Lyn more or less expected the remains of his group to go after him. Or are these people hired by her sister? That's why they are so hostile, ”According to Prince Ereland, some noble from the Mist Kingdom paid huge amounts of money to harm me.”

The amount of money paid was no little amount. It seemed like only somebody with a lot of money to spare would do this. The nobles in the Mist Kingdom, no most elites are very stingy when it comes to money. They may spend it on lavish things. But they keep a large portion of it hidden away. Most people are attached to the idea that they are rich, but if one looks closely, they save the money.

Only somebody who has a lot of money to spare. Somebody who isn't an average person and has a grudge against her. No matter how she looked at it, the criteria only fit one person. But Lyn didn't want to jump to conclusions too much. A deep sigh escaped her lips, 'Maybe she's too naive,' Lyn thought. The last time, no all the times she has been attacked, everything was her sisters doing. Isn't it clear as day that her sister is trying to get rid of her? Why is she still standing up for her?

”Allen, where's Kazuya?”

”Resting,” Allen sighed, ”That man tried to get up, and his wound reopened several times. I'm afraid he won't be able to escort you to the Snow Kingdom main castle. Rest assured, I shall accompany you.”

”Allen, can I see Kazuya for a bit?”

.....

-Allen's Manor -

He looks like he is in so much pain. All of this is her fault. If Kazuya didn't get involved with her, then he would not have had to escort her all the way here to the Snow Kingdom. He would peacefully be doing his duties. Her thoughts broke off when she realized how cold Kazuya was, and his heartbeat seemed weak.

”Kazuya?!” Lyn grabbed hold of his hand. Oh, dear Lord, please. Please make sure Kazuya is safe.

Kazuya heard of people using magic to recreate events. But for the last few minutes or hours, he has been walking through this dark space and entering different doors. All of them lead to different events in his life. Kazuya didn't know why he was being shown all this stuff. But, 'it's getting frustrating,' why does he have to be reminded of the past?

”I thought you would come here eventually…” A soothing voice said.

Kazuya's eyes shot open as he turned towards the voice. There stood a very beautiful woman; it was somebody he knew all too well. Somebody he had not seen in so long. Kazuya remained there frozen. But the woman walked over to him with a bright smile on her face.

”Oh, my! You've become so handsome, just like your father,” she reached over and caressed his cheeks with her hands, ”I've waited such a long time to see you again, to hold my child in my arms.”

Kazuya, who remained frozen this entire time, immediately drew his mother towards him. He so badly wanted to cry but held himself back. This wasn't the right time to show weakness.

”So much for me holding you, you're too big now,” his mother puffed her cheeks into a pout, ”Now I'm being held by my own child.”

”Mom,” Kazuya called out.

The woman's gaze softened, ”I've never blamed you for what happened back then. You couldn't have known something like that would happen. But now is not the time to discuss this. Dear child, what are you doing here?”

”Dead?”

”Do not be so silly,” his mother paused, and she closed her eyes. ”I see,” she trailed off and laughed, ”You fought for your love? That's my boy.”

”But she still got hurt.”

”That's fine; I'm sure she will forgive you.”

Mother pulled away from him, ”See? Even back then, she was always smiling at you.”

Kazuya turned to the bright light his mother pointed at.

It felt like he was engulfed in a small bubble. When Kazuya adjusted his eyesight to the light, he saw it. A memory from back then.

A small girl and boy were making flower crowns in the meadows.

”You know, you're terrible at this.”

Lyn puffed her cheeks, ”You can't insult a lady like that.”

”You're a lady?” Kazuya teased, and Lyn growled frustratedly. Kazuya laughed, but that laughter faded when he felt a pair of warm lips on his cheek. It was brief, but it was a kiss, nonetheless. Kazuya looked at the girl, confused, ”You..”

Lyn beamed, ”See? I am a lady.”

Kazuya looked at her dumbfounded. She did that to prove her point? Then again, she's always been like this. Kazuya reached over and whispered in her ear, ”Since you're a lady, maybe one day I'll ask for your hand.”
