Chapter 152 - Dyed Red (1/2)
Four hours later
There is a reason Lyn feigned ignorance, a reason she acted innocent and naive this entire time. It's because Lyn was afraid they would find out, she was afraid that they would notice. Her hands, ever since that time have been stained with blood countless times. While her eldest brother did his best to ensure that people who saw her in the camp forgot her, using a high-level memory erase magic. Some managed to escape that fate and chased after her. Those her brother let go free. Now that Lyn thought about it, perhaps her brother prepared for that situation. The situation where they hunted her down.
With the General and Pupillam around, Lyn didn't have to worry about using her powers again. At least that's what she thought so initially; however, it was not like that at all. Even the General and Pupillam would have a hard time hunting down every enemy. There are blind spots in every corner; even the most secured place would have a blind spot somewhere.
Lyn remembered the first time she used her powers after she came back from training with her brother. She was walking down at night to go the bathroom when she ran into the assassin. It was only one person, but it just happened to be the leader. At first, Lyn ran away, but the man was awfully persistent. So she had no choice. By the time Pupillam and the General came, the battle already came to a standstill. The man was dead, his body butchered so badly and her hands covered in blood.
Yes, just like the situation now.
”Ga… Hah…” Blood gushed out of her mouth, and Lyn struggled to regain her footing, till she pulled out her sword.
Lyn regained her balance using the sword, even though she was losing so much blood. After she repelled the fifth wave of attacks, Lyn knew that her protective shield wouldn't hold up, so she got rid of it. That was a stupid move; it leads to her getting wounded over and over. The nice dress Rhys got her was torn in every corner, and stained red by her own blood.
This is bad, she hasn't fought in such extreme measures in a very long time. When Rhys and Kazuya found out about her sword, Lyn pretended that she didn't know about it and kept up the acting for a long time. Lyn acted surprised every time they told her anything about her abilities. For the longest time, it seemed to work. But, the more she trained with Rhys. The more she realized how difficult it would be to keep on the act.
This is bad; if she keeps this up any longer, she will pass out. However, her gaze landed on the crowd headed towards her. It seemed like this was the real reason Prince Ereland wanted her to be his bride, because of her powers. He knew about it.
Lyn looked up at the sky and saw a single line. From the enemy side?
”Ahh,” Lyn grumbled. This isn't good for her at all.
But, instead of the color of the enemy team. It was a color she was familiar with. A midnight blue, like the night sky. It is not the color of the Mist Kingdom, that midnight blue... The streak hit the ground before it became a human silhouette. The person was still too far away to see, but Lyn could make out a familiar spear. The person spun their spear around like a tornado, and the groups attacking her from a distance all fell to the ground.
Suddenly Lyn hears several similar cries of pain. The soldier's bodies were ripped apart and torn into shreds. Lyn immediately noticed, 'The power of Sound.' All of it happened so quickly, that unless one was watching from the surroundings, they could not tell.
The person casually strolled over to her and pulled her up her feet. At first, he said nothing to her, and Lyn caught her breath first.
”Idiot! Why did you come back?!!” Lyn scolded. From the looks of it, it seemed like he's alone. Where did he take Tatsuya too? Hopefully, a safe place.
”Lyn. Do as I say, jump down. Kazuya is down there already; he's here to pick you up.”
At that comment, her eyes widened.
Kazuya, her Kazuya.
He's here.
He's come for her.
But, Lyn turned to Rhys, ”Rhys. . .what about,” it didn't feel right for her to leave him behind. After all, he's done so much for her, ”What about you?”
