Chapter 104 - Questioning her heart (1/2)

It still doesn't stop her from feeling nervous. A deep sigh passed her lips; she wonders exactly how she got into this strange situation. Whenever she is with Kazuya, she doesn't have to worry about Rhys going too overboard with his jokes, no his advances towards her. But now that Kazuya isn't around —Lyn paused in mid-thought. Did it make a difference, though? This man will stop at nothing to get what he wants. She wonders how she even caught his eye in the first place. Surely she isn't the type of woman Rhys liked? The kind of woman Rhys would like are people like Beth, thinking of the older woman from the Sound Kingdom, Lyn felt slightly guilty.

Whenever she messes up during the meetings, Rhys covers for her, and whenever she gets tired, Rhys always notices. It's like she is purposely showing off how much Rhys cares about her. Of course, Lyn had no such intention; the person she loves is Kazuya after all. Beth, she likes Rhys, and yet whenever Lyn inquires about it, Rhys would laugh and say that's it's impossible.

Why is this man so good at seducing her passionately, but he can't realize such a wonderful person's feelings for him? Then again, Kazuya seems to be hopeless when it comes to romance too.

”Those guys have probably gone home. Tomorrow is the conference, right? Plus the performance. We're all planning on watching you,” Rhys said.

Ah, that's right, the 'performance.' To blend in with the people of this town. Lyn had to pretend she was part of a music troupe. ”You... don't have to,” Lyn murmured.

”Idiot. Why wouldn't we come?”

”.....because...I hurt you,” Lyn finally said. She knew she was crying and yet she couldn't help it. Lyn knew had to let the tears out now. ”You've gone through so much. You were going through so much, and yet I completely misunderstood you.”

”I see. This is why you've been acting weird. Did the others tell you?”

Lyn somehow nodded and felt his other hand wipe the tear from her eye. ”You've done nothing wrong. In the first place, it was my fault for not saying anything. I'm a guy who is not good at expressing their feelings. That's probably why I could never explain what I was truly thinking to my parents or you. If I were more open to such things, then maybe you would have thought to pick me instead of going to Kazuya's side.”

Rhys is too much of a kind person. This person. This person was special to her, even now that still hasn't changed. Pupillam always said that the special person doesn't have to be someone you love, but someone you'll keep by your side no matter what happens. This is probably what that was. Still, Lyn had to admit that it was all too strange for her. She's only known Rhys for two months. Where did these powerful emotions come from?

”Lyn, is your hand shaking?”

”H—Huh? My hands are not shaking; they are fine,” Lyn stammered. Stupid, he's definitely going to see through that lie of hers.

”Really?”

”Yeah, you're imagining it.”

”Hmm, I see.”

Silence loomed on them for a moment, and Lyn felt her hands sweating. Her heart was thumping really loudly, and she felt her cheeks burning. This is way too embarrassing for her. What is it with these men from the Sound Kingdom? Ever since they came here, her heart is always restless. Then again it's not really men from the Sound Kingdom, but Rhys. Rhys makes her feel this way. She is nervous when she is with Kazuya, but at the same time, she is at ease. However, with this man? She always feels like a complete and utter mess.

”I wish I didn't imagine it.”

”Hmph. . . Pfft! Well too bad then,” Lyn said, attempting to sound casual about it. Though she knew she sounded like an utter fool.
