Chapter 94 - Life and Death (2/2)
Kazuya seldom used weapons, but when he used them. It would be a sword or a spear; today, it was the spear. He lunged forward, sweeping his spear in the process. A large gust of wind scooped up his opponents and flung them all back. While the matches were one and one match at the start, for some reason, he coincidentally got the 'life and death,' round. Kazuya wanted to laugh at the title; it's the Prince and his men who will die and not him.
”Hmm, weren't you supposed to beat me in one go?” Kazuya mocked. Right before his match started, these men surrounded him and said such cruel words. However, it was nothing he wasn't used to.
A furious look appeared on each of their faces, and they rushed at him, this time approaching him from different angles. If it were anybody, they would get caught off guard by this type of attack. But, he isn't just anybody. Kazuya didn't waste any time before he leaped into action. He rushed forward and directed his spear into the gut of the man in the center. He monetarily let's go of his blade, and spun around, landing kicks and punches on several men.
Kazuya picked up the spear and flung it around his neck before he used the hilt of the blade to knock out five men. The last six, he kicked their stomach and watched as the remaining men fell on the ground. Eventually, the attendants dragged the men out of the ring, and the next group came. It was another group of twenty, but this batch was worse than the rest. At least the last bunch of people hold some form of grudge, and it was amusing to beat them. But this next batch didn't, and it ended up with them cowering away.
'What a sad match,' Kazuya thought as he watched the new batch being dragged out. However, despite the apparent outcome. It seems like this life, and death round was still ongoing. Since he hasn't been told to leave the ring yet. The crowd was cheering loudly, despite how boring the matches are. The crowd had yet to get bored. He felt Lyn's gaze on him from the sidelines, and he looked back at her - there she stood in the participant waiting area beside Rhys. She was leaning on the railing and staring at him.
His gaze softened, seeing how Lyn looked at him, eyes filled with deep affection. Earlier, he saw what happened between her and Rhys, but before he could approach her, they called him up to the ring. The attendants were doing the best to drag the bodies out, but some people remained unconscious with the injuries he left them.
Before Kazuya could get another word out, he felt something slam against the back of his head. Just as he was about to tumble, he heard Lyn's voice and Rhys pulling her back. It was a good thing, the person who dealt the blow slightly missed. Though it landed on his head, it was only the side. Vision spinning, Kazuya turned around and saw the culprit. It was Prince Ereland holding a sword made out of gold.
Yes, solid gold. 'No wonder it hurt,' Kazuya thought to himself. He already assessed this man's abilities from the early matches, Kazuya knew who was stronger.
”Isn't it a good thing that I didn't hit you with my blade,” Ereland said with a sly smile, ”If I did this match would be over before it started.”
”I presume the life and deathmatch is over now,” Kazuya could see no more large groups entering the ring. He most likely finished of all the other contestants by now.
”No, it's just getting started.”
Kazuya understood what he meant and sighed. Is this man stupid? The difference in strength is undeniable. But, Kazuya recalled overhearing the man's intentions towards Lyn. When he escorted the village folk to their homes, he heard Prince Ereland talk with his guards. He clenched his fist when he recalled the exchange. It sent his blood boiling, and in just a matter of seconds, Kazuya felt a dark aura wrap around him.
