Chapter 5 - Is it okay to let them get close to each other? (1/2)

Year 4014 Mist Kingdom - North Quarters - (Library)

A certain silver hair man watched from the window of the room he entered after the two left. The two were still close, so he could still see them. Adrien hears a shuffling sound of footsteps behind him, ”Your here Pupillam.” A young child with auburn colored hair tied in a bun emerges from the doorway — a stack of books in her hands.

”I apologize for being late,” Pupillam trailed off and scanned the room, as she placed the books down on the table, ”Where is the Princess?”

”Come over,” Adrien beckons her over to the window. Puzzled, Pupillam walked over. A frown like the one he had earlier appeared on the aide's face when she saw the sight.

”I realize you want the Princess to have friends, and yes I wish the same. Even if we are there for her, in the end, we cannot be her companion,” Pupillam said with a nod.

Adrien raised his eyebrow at the girl's words; this dilemma would not exist if Pupillam became the Princess friend. However, this child's family owes a lot to Queen Orthez. They trained Pupillam to respect the Royal Family and taught about the gap in her status. Pupillam treats the Princess well and gets along with her, but General Adrien understood that it's a far cry from actual friendship.

Pupillam continued, ”But, is that one wise?” By that one, the girl referred to the Sound Kingdom's Ambassador, ”I don't trust that man. Not only is he shady by smiling all the time. But for the last week, his movements are unusual.”

”Did you find something?”

”I'm still unsure. Whenever I trailed him, that man didn't seem to be doing anything amiss. But then I realized it was just a body double. I was following the real him at the start, and yet..” Pupillam struggled to say the next part; the girl appeared frustrated.

”Say no more, I understand,” Adrien said. It's exactly like the reports say. The Sound Kingdom appears to have abilities and magic they've never heard of before. If it's like that then, his gaze fell back on the window - the pair was walking off in another direction. The one he watched, in particular, was the Princess. Then perhaps it's best that the Princes is getting so close with them.

Mist Kingdom Main Castle (Queen Audience Chambers)

General Adrien of House Bennet had a reputation for being attentive during meetings. So when he couldn't answer a question from the Queen, people whispered. The Queen however simply chuckled, ”It seems like you've shown me a rare side of yourself today General.”

”I apologize.”

”No matter, we finished discussing the important matters for today,” Orthez said. Were they finished? General Adrien looked over at his companions and understood from their expressions, that there was more to discuss. But nobody dared to voice a complaint. Who would have the nerve to do so?
