Chapter 388 - 388: Needless Act (2/2)
”Let go!” She demands angrily. He's starting to piss her off. ”We're in the middle of being attacked. If you want to die, die by yourself. Don't involve me in your twisted goal.”
”You're hurting my feelings, Thea.” He chuckled. Covering the back of her head, he rolled their bodies away from the rain of bullets.
Picking the discarded gun near him, he killed the remaining four with a precise shot in the head.
Clicking her tongue in annoyance, Lillie unlatched herself from him and dusted her clothes. She scanned her eyes on the carnage they created and fixed her attention on the leader.
She was planning on sparing him to question his true purpose. This attack wasn't random, that's all she could say.
The list of people who would want her maimed or dead is endless.
Preferably, she would've wanted him alive—it makes things easier to extract information. His death was unfortunate. Regardless, it wouldn't affect her search.

There were few eye-witnesses from the convenience store and everything was caught on the CCTVs. However, Lillie and Wei Fang's actions weren't compromised in the eyes of law; justified as self-defense.
In this case, blood was spilled by Lillie and Wei Fang for a good reason. Both are heirs to their respective families and are revered public figures. The people they've injured and killed threatened and attempted to take their lives.
Furthermore, they were unarmed. So that strengthens their defense.
Well, slightly unarmed if you count the large wolf as an armed force with his killer maw.
Most of the gangsters were critically injured, seven of them were dead.
The incident wasn't aired in public, and the eye-witnesses were sworn secrecy—not that it would stop them from shooting their mouths off.
It's an open secret that most, if not all, high-standing families have at least dirtied their hands once or twice in their lives. Hid some skeletons in their closet.
From the media's perspective, it was a shame that their actions were justified. It would've been a juicy piece in their report.
Thankfully, there were no paparazzi or reporters who caught a whiff of it. There was one person who was secretly filming everything after he saw Lillie and Wei Fang together—assuming something was going on between them.
The phone was confiscated, undoubtedly. It was to use the footage as evidence before permanently deleting it.
Being two of the most influential figures in society, Lillie and Wei Fang naturally have backings from the authorities. The government was willing to cover for them.
”You're both good to go, Miss Bai, Mr. Wei. We'll handle everything from here.” The chief of police bowed his head. ”I apologize for wasting too much of your time.”
”No worries. Thank you for your service, chief.” Wei Fang smiled as he sat inside the ambulance while a nurse applies first-aid to his wound.
Oh, did Lillie forgot to mention he was shot from the bullet that was meant for her? Well, now you know. She's still not thanking him for it though. He was being an idiot.
”I'll explain everything to my father. You go ahead and have your wound tended.”
”You should go to the hospital with me, Thea.” He worriedly said.
”My knuckles are only grazed and bruised, Mr. Wei,” From punching so many people, ”it's nothing serious.”
Besides, the nurse already cleaned and dressed it.
Although, she would need to secretly see Doctor Song Zhihao after this to check her baby's condition. That impact on the ground with Wei Fang worries her. She doesn't feel any discomfort in her abdomen, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
”I hope you get well soon,” She said out of politeness. Turning around, she caught him frowning from her peripheral view but she ignores it.
Maybe if she upsets him enough with her attitude, he would leave her alone.
”You need a bath and a thorough brush on your teeth, Storm,” Lillie said to the wolf. It may be unnoticeable due to his dark coat, but his fur is tainted with blood, especially in the snout area.
Storm whimpered. He hates bathing.
”It's for your own good.” She coaxed as she drove home. She'll just ask Elliot to deliver the paperworks.
