Chapter 388 - 388: Needless Act (1/2)

The leader shakily stood up, placing a supporting hand on his aching chest. He grunted in pain as his movement aggravated the aftermath of Lillie's strike. Spitting the blood he coughed up, he watches his men fall one by one.

Lillie Bai and Wei Fang are defeating his men without breaking a sweat. At first glance, anyone would've thought that they were outnumbered and outgunned, and are more likely to lose.

None would've guessed that this armed group would be overwhelmed by two people.

Pathetic.

Both of them are ruthless.

If only the little white face wasn't here, they would at least stood a chance against Lillie Bai.

Cursing under his breath, the leader gnashed his teeth furiously. He can't say that he's quite lucky that she didn't kill him with that jab. His ribs are broken and he's bleeding internally—if the dark blueish skin is any indication. She must've ruptured a vein in his lung, making it difficult for him to breathe.

”Aaarghh!” One of his men screamed as a large beast leaped towards him and bit his neck.

Reassessing his thoughts, he'll say with confidence that yeah, luck is not with him. He's still alive, but he feels dead.

The gun on his belt holster felt heavy.

He'll die anyway, so what if he decided to pull one of them with him to hell?

”Lillie, watch out!” Wei Fang exclaimed from ahead. But it didn't look like she heard him over the goons' war cries.

His eyes widened in apprehension as the man behind her stood up and was preparing to shoot her.

He thought she was too busy fending off her opponents that she didn't notice that the leader managed to pick himself up and c.o.c.ked his gun with a shaky hand.

However, it looks like he was having a hard time focusing on his target. Lillie moving around constantly made it difficult. With this, Wei Fang will have time to make it to him and knock him out for good.

He's planning to kill her. Good, this makes everything appear real.

Huh?

Wei Fang staggered.

Striking one of her opponents on the sternum, Lillie stepped back to avoid another incoming hit that was targeting her abdomen. She retaliated by snapping the man's neck with a kick. The attack was coated with rage.

No one attacks her baby and gets to live the next second.

Suddenly, the air around them thickened. It crawled through her skin, if the goosebumps were any indication.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw Wei Fang standing there, dazed, and as if frozen in time.

Shadow cast over his eyes. When he slowly lifted his head, it allowed her to take a good look at his face. The glint in his eyes changed.

Crazy Fang woke up.

Despite being preoccupied with her thoughts and opponents, she didn't miss the movement behind her. The first victim of her ruthlessness, the leader of this group, stood up and attempted to aim his gun at her.

The trigger was pulled, and the bullet zoomed through the air with an ear-piercing ring. Lillie was ready to evade it by either using her opponent's body as a shield again or sidestepping it.

In the end, it was none of the choices. Her feet were off the ground, and she found herself wrapped in a protective, yet possessively tight, embrace.

Wei Fang sprinted towards her with shocking speed and propelled himself against her. Both of them toppled over. He made sure to secure Lillie on his chest as he let his back absorb the impact of their harsh fall.

Lillie couldn't contain the gasp from escaping her lips. This idiot and his needless act of heroism had risked her baby's safety! The landing wasn't soft in the slightest. Fortunately, he made himself her cushion.

”What were you thinking!” She roared, glaring at him fiercely. Giving no show of concern as she watches him groan in pain beneath her.

”A thank you would've been nice.” He muttered, eyes shut.

”Your action is needless. Therefore, thankless.” She snapped, trying to peel herself off from his offending limbs. He wouldn't budge.
