Chapter 63 - Evening Gathering (2/2)
”Many want to attend this party, so I am warning you ahead of time, I imagine that Yu Jingshen will show up.”
”Don't worry,” Yu Huiyin felt excited, but a cold gleam flashed past her eyes at the mention of her father. ”I have not seen him for years; I highly doubt that he will be able to recognize me.”
”That's good,” Xie Jingyu nodded his head. ”I have booked a studio to do your styling and makeup. I have also ordered a dress for you. It should suit you just perfectly.”
Yu Huiyin nodded her head. Up until now, every garment that he had bought for her had fit her, so she did not doubt that the dress would too.
The truth was, that although Xie Jingyu had been invited to the event, no one had expected that he would actually participate.
It was his daughter company who had made the investment, and it had little to do with him as the CEO of the Xie Corporation.
But everyone wanted to get a better relationship with him, hence they invited him anyway, and he had said yes for one reason only.
Yu Huiyin wanted to enter the entertainment circle. Not as an actress, but as the leader of a company, and this gathering would make it possible for her to gather some connections.
The rest of the day was spent buried in work. Xie Jingyu went to various meetings, while Yu Huiyin sorted and archived multiple files that had to do with accounting.
The Head Secretary quickly started to feel some respect for Yu Huiyin. The woman had no previous experience, nor education to back her up, but she was efficient and hardworking. If there was something she did not understand, she was polite while asking questions, and she did not put on any airs.
While the Head Secretary slowly changed her initial opinion on Yu Huiyin, many of the others were still grumbling about the Fox Spirit that had seduced their dream husband, their CEO.
But whenever the upper management heard any rumors, they were harsh to mete out punishments, and soon the rumors were confined to the WeChat groups.
The upper management dared not inform the ordinary white-collar workers that Yu Huiyin was his wife. They did not know what exactly Xie Jingyu's plans were, and since they had not publicly announced their relationship, they wisely kept their mouths shut.
The ordinary workers all assumed that these managers and the upper hierarchy of the office just wanted to keep their positions and maybe even advance by fawning over Yu Huiyin. They would never believe it if they were told that this woman, whom they deemed to be a vixen, was in fact, Xie Jingyu's wife.
