Chapter 435 - Revenge 436: I Dont Joke Around (1/2)

”Lannie, I'm asking again. What is this ruckus you three are making here?! Have you already forgotten that this is a public place?” When Veronica heard that series of questions from Elijah's mouth, she momentarily forgot what she just saw. She is about to say something to add more fuel to Elijah's anger, but suddenly, Elijah turned around to face her and said, ”And you! What did you do to my granddaughter to make her act like a barbarian?!”

Elijah is not stupid enough to believe that his granddaughter was the one who is at fault. He helped raised both of his grandchildren and he knows them well. Lannie is sometimes aggressive but in a fun way, and when she does something that harmed other people, she did it with a purpose.

Elijah refuses to believe that his granddaughter is the one who started everything.

Veronica was bewildered of what she just heard. Just a moment ago, he was angrily talking to Lannie, and yet now, he is questioning her angrily. And without even asking, she knows right away that Elijah is putting all the blame on her.

”Grandfather, the answer is simple.” Lannie started. ”This girl, won't listen to a word my brother told her. Brother Kyle already told her to get lost, but she won't budge and just clung on to him, and when I told her to back away, she just turned deaf on her and I got irritated and pushed her away. But to be perfectly honest, I didn't even push her that hard, and yet she's overacting to it.”

Realizing that she is not being treated like she used to, Veronica is suddenly freaking out on the inside. 'I need to come up with an excuse right away!' She inwardly said.

”While it is true that I didn't leave right away when you two told me to leave, that does not mean that you have the right to push me away physically. And besides, I am sure that Kyle was only joking on pushing me away!” No matter what kind of treatment Kyle will bestow upon her, she knows that when the time is right, Kyle will come and rescue her just like what he promised to her before.

”I'm afraid that my grandson is not joking Miss Lace.” Elijah coldly said to Veronica. He did not want to get in between teenagers quarreling, but he could not help it when everything is happening where there are too many people who are watching and two of his family member are the main star of this scene.

Veronica turned around to see Kyle, then to the girl, he is caressing with such tenderness. Just then, she remembered what Lannie told her earlier, and her blood boiled in so much anger because of that. 'Lannie is only saying nonsense. I am Kyle's special someone! Not that girl!'

”Grandpa Elijah, me and Kyle were playmates when we were still little, and I am sure that he is joking.” Even though Elijah was always around, Veronica wants Elijah to understand that she knows Kyle better than anyone else and that there is not one who best her.

Anna heard that, and she could not help but glance at Kyle who is endearingly staring at her, then she said, ”She said you were joking.” Anna knows that Veronica is only saying those words out of desperation of wanting Kyle's attention, but she wants to test Veronica's patience. With that, she's kind enough to let Veronica have some of Kyle's attention.

Kyle has no idea what is Anna's purpose, but he does want Veronica to stop spouting nonsense, or else Anna might start to believe in it. ”Veronica is it? Well, I don't care if that is your name. I barely remember you. You and I were playmates, then you left, end of the story. That's it. Just like what I said before, I don't plan to get to know you. Ever. And one more thing, you don't know me and I don't joke around.”

With just that, Veronica is left speechless. She just came back and this is the treatment that she is getting from Kyle? She felt like her heart is being torn into pieces because of what he said. Never in her life has she been treated like this.

Everyone that tries to bully her, she scares them off by saying that she will be the next hostess of the Robertson family, and to prove that she is telling the truth, she showed them a picture of her and Kyle when they were little.

It set those people to believe that Kyle is arranged in a marriage with her.

She has been bragging about that for so many years now and she can't believe that she's going to be turning out as a liar the moment she interacted with Kyle.
