40 Selena (2/2)

”Ah, yes.” The Lizardling assumes a sad smile as memories of his past came resurfacing in his mind. ”It's my… step-daughter who I have adopted in the orphanage. Even if we're not related by blood obviously, I treat her as if she was my precious hatchling. I lost her four years ago when she succumbs to malaria. I could only remember her final days on her deathbed as I stay constantly at her side, weak and pale as she kept smiling at me sweetly until her very last breath.”

”I'm sorry.” Gray apologizes. ”If it's any worth, My condolences. May I know your daughter's name?”

”Selena,” Rarsu tells him. ”Her name is Selena.”

Gray nods as he gave him a comforting smile. ”Since you created the Sentinel's body in honoring the memory of your daughter, it's only right that I give the Sentinel a name similar to hers, a testament of your hard work and fruitful labors.”

”I…” Rarsu's eyes widen with deep appreciation at the Elf's noble gesture. ”It would do me great honor, young man. Thank you. It's nice to know that at least her memory will forever live in the body of the Sentinel that I crafted.”

”It's a pleasure.” Gray nods in response and turns to face the newly named Sentinel with a grin. ”You hear that? From this day forth, you're going to be known as Selena.”

Upon naming the Arcane Sentinel, the name on her status bar changes to match it.

The Arcane Sentinel, now named Selena, nods in acknowledgment at the name bestowed upon by her master, her expression still as stoic as ever.

”Now that everything's settled,” Rarsu stated as he instantly shifts the conversation's depressing nature away. ”I suppose we can start your training the day after tomorrow, where you will be staying here with me for the duration of your Apprenticeship. I still have to write a detailed report about the success of our ritual to the University.”

”Alright,” Gray said. ”I suppose I'll be taking my leave then. In the meantime, I'll be leaving Selena here with you. I still have to meet up with a friend at the Fighter's Retreat.”

”Very well,” Rarsu replies. Then he turns his sights at Selena as he ordered her and points at the watery floor caused by him dropping the water bowl out of shock earlier. ”Selena, be a dear and kindly clean up the mess.”

The Arcane Sentinel nods indifferently as she witnessed both Mages going out of the room.

After a short moment of trekking inside, they are finally seen emerging outside from the shop as the pleasant air and the sunny rays greeted them.

Gray bids Rarsu his farewell as he turns around and makes his way to the Fighter's Retreat, where he'll be meeting with Isamu for some good drinking and indulge themselves in drunken splendor.

Up in the sky, the brown sparrow, now seeing the Elf leaving, resumes its task of following him.

The Lizardling could only smirk in complete intrigue as he stares at the retreating form of Gray. After all, the Elf might be someone that'll prove of total interest and show things that are out of this world, just like his soul regenerating at an absurd rate.

'Hehe, I've got a good feeling about this one.' Were Rarsu's last thoughts before entering his humble shop.
